The rarest PAL Megadrive games

Just thought I'd get a list going in case anyone out there has something rare without realising!

The rarest PAL Megadrive game is the original blue cover release of World Championship Soccer 2. There are only a couple known to exist. Sega for some odd reason released a 'sega classics' version a little later...which makes very little sense given the low print run of the original. A few think that this second release was made out of a load of recalled versions of the original.

Next to this you have -

The Death and Return of Superman
Nightmare Circus (Brazil only PAL)
Megaman: The Wily Wars
Daze Before Christmas (Australia only PAL)
Fatal Fury 2 (Australia only PAL as far as I know)
Ecco Jr. (Australia only PAL)
Separation Anxiety

Then the next tier (Should be able to pick most of these up for a reasonable enough price...bar Alien Soldier, Turrican and the Punisher) -

The Punisher
Spiderman The Animated Series
Alien Soldier
Dragon Ball Z (Blue label)
Mega Turrican
Ex-Ranza
Probotector
Demolition Man
Foreman for Real
Art of Fighting
Samurai Showdown
Asterix III : Power Of The Gods
Zero The Kamikazee Squirrel
Virtual Bart

Games that aren't rare but demand a high premium -

Streets of Rage 3
Phantasy star IV (And every other RPG on the console to be honest)
Zombies ate my Neighbours
Moonwalker
Gunstar Heroes
Rocket Knight Adventures
Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master
Road Rash 3
Turtles Tournament Fighters
Dune 2: Battle for Arakkis
Zero Wing

Is Probotector really that rare? Absolutely love that game, still have it. Took some time investment to get good enough to finish it though.

It's not in the top tier of rarities like Megaman and some of the ones mentioned there, but it's really uncommon alright. (Strange seeing as Hard Corps did quite well in America)

Complete copies go for quite a nice little sum on ebay.

Actually one of my biggest ebay buying regrets was passing up a complete boxed copy a few years ago for 7.99. Didn't realize it's worth at the time. Had to make do with a cart only version a few years later instead

Someone robbed your PAL gunstar? Argh. That's a pain alright. Most people don't even know what it is. The thief had taste...

Edit - Going to update this as a way of keeping track of these as I attempt to collect them all.

Out of the rarer games:

Megaman: The Wily Wars (CIB)
Ecco Jr (Boxex, no booklet)
Demolition Man (CIB)
Probotector (Cart only)
Art of Fighting (CIB)
Zero The Kamikazee Squirrel (CIB)
Foreman for Real (x2) (CIB)
Mega Turrican (CIB)
Samurai Showdown (CIB)

Then the expensive yet not rare ones -

Phantasy star IV (cart only)
Moonwalker (Boxed, no booklet)
Turtles Tournament Fighters (Cart only)
Dune 2: Battle for Arakkis (CIB)
Gunstar Heroes (NTSC copy so it doesn't count. gr!!)

Really have to get the finger out and start searching. The biggie I want is Alien Soldier. But I have yet to find a complete copy for less than 70 euro or so.

what happened was I picked up gunstar heroes when it was released I was 9 or so at the time (maybe 10) and I played it to death. But I leant my copy to a friend to play and he traded it with another friend (without my permission) for General Chaos...which is now in my possession and I never got Gunstar Heroes back

If I could go back in time, I'd slap my 9/10 year old self and then break my 9/10 year old friend's nose...

Happened to be as well except the people I lent it to moved to the other side of the country with my copy of ISS on the mega drive which I'm guessing is ultra rare as well. Only recently got a copy of gunstar heroes back.

Same thing happened to me. Gave a lend of Soviet Strike to someone. They then decided to swap it with someone else. I was horrified!

Another annoying example, I let my aunt borrow 5 or so Megadrive games about 15 years ago. Only got them back recently.

She thought it was hilarious. Me, not so much

I'm also waiting on a copy of Syndicate Wars back from my cousin...actually I've been waiting so many years that I just bought another copy.

A mate of mine I haven't seen in a good while has my two Command and Conquer games for the ps1.

Got San Andreas back from another mate after two years. Disc only. He lost the case.

Sonic 1 came back from a guy with no booklet.

Weird how you remember these things actually. Even if the games in question are rubbish.

But yeah, I no longer lend out games. To anyone!

That's a shame. The Japanese Gunstar Heroes art is lovely.
