Can't wait until Dublin - Galway Motorway opens...

Just managed to do Loughrea - Galway (Galway Clinic) in 15 mins, and we were doing nowhere near 120kph as the motorway still hasn't opened... and we were going down the wrong way (ie. driving on right hand side) - Think we were only doing about 45MPH

No need for the blues n' two's as there was no-one else on it, but we did get an escort from one of the jeeps working on the motorway who had orange lights.

You can just about make out the central divider on the 'wrong side'

They opened it for emergency veichles this evening, so we happily obliged There was security at the entrance that we took (and at the end) - were pretty thick about letting us through, even with an escort ffs!

Who's running the new toll bridge on it? I'd say they can't wait either!

3 tolls between Galway and Dublin airport. I'd stick to the old road... it'll be much quieter!

A fellow boardsie posted this. Apparently the taoiseach has requested that the motorway be opened with restrictions so that traffic to and from Galway can still move

This is starting to look messy - i'm leaving for Galway in a few hours. I've 8" of ground clearance, guess that makes me ok for maybe a foot of water tops?

I talked to a lady in the roads section of Galway county Council 10 minutes ago. They can't confirm that the N6 will open, but aid to check back later.

Updates here, post #8.
