I think we have to get a bit more organised here.... so you should use this thread to post up any club nights or gigs with soul, r'n'b or funk playing.

One post per event and please don't keep posting it each week if it's a regular occurrence.

Information should include location (including city/town), admission price, time, music played and any other information that's relevant to it.

The Candidates are an 8 band piece funk outfit from Dublin. They have supported the likes of The SoulJazz Orchestra, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Breakeastra, Poets of Rhythm as well as receiving tremendous receptions at festivals accross the country from Life Festival in Co. Meath to The Cork Jazz Festival. After over two years on the live circut The Candidates will release their very first EP, If You Got It, on December 23rd in the funky setting of The Sugar Club.

Support on the night comes from newcomers The Uglies which features ChoiceCuts very own Dj Rizm and Handsome Paddy...so spread the word it's gonna be an xmas classic!!!

Admission: €10 (this includes a free CD)
Doors: 8:00pm

Hey all

The Candidates (full details above!) are an 8 piece Funk/Soul band from Dublin. After a great launch night on december 23rd in a packed sugar club we're doing our first gig of 2010. Hope as many of the soul/funk heads from boards can make it down to THE BERNARD SHAW, Dublin 2, this THURSDAY January 21st for some hot and sweaty funk. Admission is free and there's drinks promo's all night.

If you can't make Thursday, we're playing another pub in Portobollo called THE LOWER DECK on SATURDAY January 23rd. Admission is €5.

The best Soul, Funk and Disco with DJs Brian Butler and Davy Holland.

Every 2nd Saturday 11pm-2am. The next one is Saturday 6th March. Free entry.

The Set is the best new venue in the country and the floor is always full with smiling, happy groovers!

It's easily the best night out in Kilkenny!

Were hopefully staying in Isaac Butt for rest of year, great 6ts Cavern style venue, wooden floor, get your dancing shoes on 9-3am

July 30 "Is RnB time" Sleepless hosts Wexfords rare Soul Club 'For Dancers Only'. 6ts Rnb meets hard edged Northern. Good vibe for this one

August 27. This night in conjunction with Ipso facto productions whose film SOULBOY based around the 7ts Northern Soul scene opens that weekend, watch out for national radio and press coverage, will be a packer

September 24. With one of our djs getting married the day before plenty of top notch overseas djs and soulies in town, promises to be a goodun.

Hi all,

PROUDFOOT are an 8 piece Soul/Funk Band playing original grooves and some funky Covers thrown in for good measure. We've been around a bit and have played some storming gigs over the last year and a half.

We're playing upstairs in Whelans on Thursday 23rd December at Midnight. Free in before 10:30pm and admission is €5 afterwards.

Come on in and have a good groove on the Eve of Christmas Eve!

There's a crowd called Upbeat Generation that play in the Mezz on Mondays. They are a Soul/Funk Cover Band. They're very good and the night is very lively for a Monday.
