Killed PRegnant mother of 4; "It was an accident"

He now says, after Denying ever killing a Pregnant mother of 4 for over a year, that this was all an accident.

Of course, this admission only happens after he gets all the evidence thrown in his face.

Oct 19,

Quote:
A man from Northern Ireland has denied murdering a pregnant mother of four at her Derry home last summer.
Stephen Cahoon will make legal history tomorrow as the first person to face a jury in the Republic for a non-terrorist related offence in Northern Ireland.
Mr Cahoon, 37, is accused of murdering his partner Jean Quigley at her home in Cornshell Fields, in the Shantallow area of the city on 26 July 2008.

During a brief hearing in Dublin's Central Criminal Court the defendant, who was dressed in a grey coloured hoody and jeans, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Seven women and six men were chosen to hear the trial.
Mr Justice Paul Carney warned jurors should indicate if they knew the defendant, the 30-year-old murder victim, her family or had any connections with Derry before taking the oath.
The judge also revealed the trial is expected to last two to two-and-a-half weeks.
Under the Criminal Law Jurisdiction Act of 1976 suspects can be tried in the Republic for alleged offences in Britain or Northern Ireland.
After his arrest in Donegal Mr Cahoon, of Harvey Street, Derry, opted to have his trial in the Republic instead of Northern Ireland.
Last November Belfast man Gerard Mackin became the first person to be convicted by a Dublin court for a murder carried out in Northern Ireland.
Mackin was jailed for life by the non-jury Special Criminal Court after he was found guilty of the killing of Belfast taxi driver Eddie Burns in the city in 2007.

A Derry man accused of murdering a pregnant mother-of-four last year has told his trial at the Central Criminal Court that the killing was an accident.
Stephen Cahoon, 37, of Harvey Street, Derry, admits killing his ex-girlfriend Jean Quigley but has denied a charge of murder.
The jury was told that the 30-year-old woman's body was found at her home in the Shantallow area of Derry on 26 July last year. She had been badly beaten and strangled.

Stephen Cahoon told the court he grabbed Ms Quigley by the throat after she began screaming at him to get out of her house. He said she was saying she would have an abortion and he snapped.
He said he realised she was dead when she did not move for about five minutes.
Mr Cahoon said the reason he did not call the police was because he panicked and thought she might still be alive.
He said he left the house and went to a park where he sat crying on a bench for a couple of hours. He then went home and slept before taking a bus to Galway and later Donegal town where he was arrested 11 days later.
Ms Quigley had been in a relationship with Stephen Cahoon which had ended two weeks previously. She was ten weeks pregnant at the time.
The accused said he and Jean Quigley had loved each other in the short time they were together.
He said they were delighted about her pregnancy but he was later told by a friend that she had only got pregnant to get back at her ex-partner of 12 years.
Im not sure how you can call badly beating and strangling a pregnant woman an Accident. Maybe he was helping her put on a scarf?

If it happened in Derry then why is the court case in Dublin?

And realy, what kind of person shows up to court to face a murder charge wearing jeans and a hoody? Does the guy just not care?
Surely his solictor could sort a suit, no?

Mr Cahoon also pleaded guilty to killing a thread in After Hours on boards.ie. He told the court that he did not realise the thread was dead until after he had bumped it several times.

To reply to you and tell you this.
It's already at the top regardless, not like I'm posting in it when it's dropped off to the 2nd or 3rd page./

He denied murdering her, not killing her.. claims it was an accident so he's hoping for a manslaughter charge

personally I think he's a murderer and should get the full sentence.

It costs 90k a year to keep our own scum in prison, so why are we paying to house the UK 's filth ?

By the way, it costs 33k in the UK to keep someone locked up for a year. So maybe we should have Britain take our prisoners and we pay them, say, 45k.
Our costs are halved, the scum are gone and Britain makes a 12k profit !! Everybody wins.
