Is it worth upgrading from the 450D to the 40D
I got to use a 40d someone I know had and I was really impressed with how it felt and the speed at which it took shots.
At the moment, I'm using a 450D and I do think it's a great camera; question is, is it worth upgrading to the 40D for the faster burst rate. If you have upgraded to the semi-pro model from an entry-level model; please let me know if it was worth it for you and how it has Thanks

The burst rate doesn't concern me as I'm not into sports photography, but the superior build quality does. I initially thought my next upgrade would be to a 40 or 50D, however I think I'll just hold out and buy a 5D Mk 1 when the time comes.

Well i'm not a canon head so others may dispute any or all of the following;
First off, they are both fine machines and great cameras by all accounts. The side by side comparison does not show significant differences, but from what I know the 40d's build quality will be better. The 40D has less megapixels than the 450D but the same sensor size so i'm guessing that it will give better performance wrt noise. The 40d is about 6 months older (ish???) than the 450d. The faster shooting is impressive but do you need faster shooting in what you want to shoot. For me it is rare that I need to shoot continuous at such speeds but it most definitely has its uses. Other than that, there's nothing jumping out at me so from a desktop exercise perspective you may be better aiming for a pro body at some stage. But that's only on the desktop, if there is a feel to the machine which you like and is better than your 450d then well, that by itself makes a compelling argument. Good luck with it. |

I might see what it will cost to upgrade to a full frame; wont be able to upgrade for while tho; money is tight
