Irish Examiner Charging for Access to Death Notices

As from today the Irish Examiner has started charging €5 per 7 days for access to it's popular Death Notices (or Family Notices as it calls them).

I think €250 as year just to read death notices online is over the top. You don't even get access to the full paper online.

I see the Examiner has radically changed the price for the service. Instead of €5 for 7 days it's now €5 for 30 days and €35 per year.

However, thanks to www.rip.ie it's thanks but no thanks.

These death notices are paid for in the first instance by the family of the deceased and they don't come cheap. I don't think we should have to pay to see them as well. And you don't even get access to the full newspaper online so it's very poor value.
