Bob Dylan - has he finally lost the plot?

I'm as big a Bob fan as anybody, I've got 40 odd albums, hours and hours of bootlegs, seen him live about a dozen times, but this new album has left even me scratching my head. Has he gone mad? Does he give even less of a **** what people think than usual? Is he taking the complete piss? Or is it indeed from the heart, as it says on the tin. I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but I'd be worried that his musical renaissance of the last 12 years has run out of steam big time and this is barrel scraping on a grand scale. Or maybe he just feels he's entitled to do what he bloody well likes at this stage. Either way, it'll make for an interesting variation on the usual rubbish you hear on the radio over the festive season. Watch out Wham, Bob's a comin'.......

He went a bit 'odd' on slow train coming and Saved also,it seems he can do what he likes now,but then he nearly always could! The only hard time i have heard about him getting was when some of the audiance walked out when he switched from acoustic to electric!
overall i like his music but he does get away with murder sometimes i think!

It's a charity record, all profits go to charity. Don't think he has anything left to prove, his most recent album (Together Through Life) is one of the best of his recent stuff.

Respect is due, but not for this.

As usual, it's hard to know just what to make of Bob Dylan, but regardless of his original intentions, whether it's humour, philanthrophy or from the heart, I think this Christmas album idea is really funny. I suppose what I'm taking from it is that I'm still enjoying his music, so he's still good in my book!

Questioning or trying to figure Dylan out has been fruitless for nearly half a century, why start now?

He's produced enough peerless work for him to have long since earned the right to do whatever he wants.

How come? This will probably raise a good bit of money for good causes.
