Zack and Miri is some pile of crap

I just watched Zack and Miri make a porno. There is nothing good about that movie, and I like Seth Rogan movies, and I kinda like some of Kevin Smith's stuff. But there is nothing redeeming about this movie. There are no funny bits, and its so clique.

How did Kevin Smith or Seth Rogan manage to let out something so crap. After the likes of Superbad, or Pineapple Express or dogma, to not know this is a completely by the numbers movie.

Couldn't even finish it myself, I personally love Clerks, Clerks 2, Malrats, Dogma... but hated felt very apathetic about Zack and Miri, it just wasn't funny, wasn't well written, horribly acted and really sold itself purely on the fact it had "porno" in the title.

It just felt like a by-the-books romcom. I really hated that Kevin Smith had suckered me into watching something that Jennifer Aniston and Matthew McConaughey should of been in.

It falls victim to the same problem most Kevin Smith films fall victim to - a very uneasy mix of gross out nerdy humour and vomit-inducing sentimentality. The man really needs to get those crowd pleasing instincts out of his head, as the man has been known to make a good film or two. What happened to the cynical romance of Chasing Amy?

Oh well, at least Zack and Miri wasn't another Jersey Girl, but nor was it anything more than mediocre.

Seth Rogen's movies are crap.
Observe and Report has to be 1 of the worst movies I've seen.

Zack and Miri had nothing.

God when are good movies going to come back,I just sat through pelham 123 which was good until denzel decides gets a dose of hero and its back to the usual hollywood hero crap.

Ya, but it's got the dutch ruder and the double dutch ruder in it. Classic comedy gold right there.

I thought it was one of Smiths better movies, his best is still Chasing Amy, both the Clerks movies are terrible, especially the second. He can write a funny piece of dialogue but hes a terrible director, funny on his evening with... dvds though very natural comic ability, and he hates Tim Burton which is always a plus

It really was dreadful. I hated it. Its a paint by numbers rom com with some American Pie moments thrown in.

It's like a romcom but for guys. Rather predictable and not terribly funny. But whenever I see these kinda films in the cinema everyone else around me seems to roar laughing at every obvious wise-crack and off-beat joke and I'm sitting there thinking, "That wasn't funny...". I wonder if everyone else is thick, or I'm just a dry sh1te....

Kevin Smith has a following in the same way that Joss Whedon does. They all put on their sh!t rose tinted glasses when they watch his stuff and think the sun shines out of his ass. It doesn't surprise me that at a Kevin Smith film the audience would be laughing away on impulse whenever the slightest gag is let out.

Yeah, 'Judd Apatow syndrome', I'd call it. I'm hoping it's something to do with that , and not me being humorless. It just seems like if you get some fat and/or nerdy guy to say something random in a dead- pan way it's absolutely hilarious. 'The Hangover' would be a good example of people breaking their sh1te laughing over, well, nothing. Though that's more trying to be an Apatow film, than an actual Apatow film.

I actually try and avoid most comedy films now, because they just bore me.

I dont see how Seth Rogen, Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler and the likes are classified as actors they basically play themselves in every single movie they do, I cant be the only person out there to think this.

I have to agree with L31mr0d, Kevin Smith, like Joss Whedon and Wes Anderson, are directors with built-in fanboy audiences, who will lap up anything they make. I happen to like a lot of Whedon's stuff, some of Smith's and a little of Anderson's, but when they know their work will be praised to high heaven by "their" audience seemingly irregardless of quality, it seems on occasion they're content to trot out very inferior films/shows.

Reign Over Me? Great performance from Sandler.

I found the casting a bit strange as she was way too old to be playing the character she was meant to be playing. She is 8 years older than him yet they are meant to have been in the same class? She isn't old but she certainly doesn't look like she is in her 20s

Then it wasn't funny, Observe and Report was even worse.
