I will probably play this. I understand you need to cover your expenses if you exceed the guarantee. It's just the wording of it that makes me a bit uneasy. I have played a few of your events and I know your not trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes intentionally but I wouldn't like to see a precedence set for organisers to advertise like this.

It just leaves it open for abuse imo. Maybe if you capped it at 15% to 20% or something it would sit a little easier. Personally I would be planning on spending the €100 pretty much 100% of the time I play something like this.

Thanks for the comments gorrrr, the reason we have to word it like this is because decisions have to be made that will effect the prizepool for example : to have dealers for more hands an hour or no dealers for less expenses. We also dont know exactly how many people to expect. We know at this time that interest is very big and we want to be able to hold a large well run tournament and cover our expenses. Dont forget that if the prizepool guarantee isn't reached we will be paying out €5000 and the expenses.

I know you are taking a big risk guaranteeing a free tourney with a 5k prizepool. And guaranteed prizepools are great for the game so it is appreciated.
It just reminds me of another free tourney a while back for someones birthday that caused a lot of controversy because of the eventual prizepool paid after the expenses were taken out.

You know how some gossipers love the chance to start whispers about poker organizers and I would hate to see that happen as I know you run a tight ship.

Maybe I'm not explaining my thoughts very well, I'm not criticizing I'm trying to put across how a punter might feel about it.

I would prefer to pay a reg fee up front of say €20.

The reason is this: Say you get 100 players and you get 150 rebuys/top ups. Total = 7500 minus 2k expenses (example) so prizepool paid is 5500.

Option 2: 100 players pay €20 reg = 2k.
150 rebuys/top ups = 7500 prizepool paid out.

P.S. I like the idea of online pre reg for the extra 1000 chips. Gives an idea of numbers attending which in turn should prompt more people to attend as long as the list is advertised as it gets bigger.

Again thanks for the feedback gorrr and I definitely see where you are coming from. I was actually surprised that it was only yourself who left feedback about this so far. As you know we always listen closely to what the players think about our business and I have given your feedback to the guys running the event. From what I know we are trying this out to see if it works and hope everyone has a good time. If it works we will probably run it as a regular tournament but as with all business ventures we might need to tweak it a bit and thats when the feedback comes in.

We will be posting a list of registered players both here and on BrucePoker.com.

GREAT IDEA....

ill be there... just something to think about.. if you charge 20reg in its still a free entry tournament... which means you can have dealers and all the buyins can go into the prizepool.... nobody expects not to pay a reg....this way everything would look a lot more transparent....

I would be interested in this but only if there are dealers. €20 is reasonable.

dont think you will get as many runners if this t,ney is a €100 self deal pub game rather than the last bruce t,ney in dunboyne which got 48 runners i think and had dealers.i know dunboyne and voodoo the following week where just shy of the 5k mark but a self deal game will probably fall way short, leave it at €120 including reg and dealers., and i,ll play....self deal and id have no interest.

Thanks for the comments guys. I have been told that this tournament will run as advertised. We will be 100% transparent and our TD will be happy to speak to any and all players who want to know the details of the amount taken if over €5000 is accumulated on the day.
I will be able to post the amount of dealers that will be at this event on Mionday.
