what do people put gemini on a dreambox ?

what is the difference between gemini and stock software ?

The stock firmware is not released frequently, so Gemini and other images tend to have more up to date baselines for the Enigma2 software and drivers.

Other than that, the extra features included make it more flexible and often easier to use. Easy to download new GUI skins, CAM EMUs (if you are using viewing cards). There are weather, RSS, webcam, media player plugins etc, samba server etc etc.

The alternative images make the box more powerful. Gemini is my tipple, but several other images are also quite popular.

In the case of my DM8000 alone, the last firmware update was Dec 10th 2008.. that version was broken for DTT scanning in Ireland and had other issues I can't even remember. The latest Gemini 4.4 has loads of fixes included.
