Credit cards that give somthing back???
For the past few years i have had Pigsback.com credit card...
with this CC (MBNA) you "used" to get 1 Point for every euro spent! You could then accumulate points on Pigsback.com and exchange them for vouchers and stuff for cds/dvds/restauarants.. lots of stuff! on the Pigsback site... ok it wasn't much but i reckoned it worked at about 1% returned to u ... Anyway some 6 months ago Pigsback/mbna reduced the 1 point for every euro spent to 1 point for every 2Euro spent! a reduction of 50% on your points collected... Tesco have a CC that also gives you 1 point for 2euro spent.....they will return these points to you in Cash vouchers that can be spent in store!! So in the UK there are many CC companies that offer you Direct cash back for the money you spend this varies from 1 to 2% back into your account.... So is there any other CC company in Ireland offering anything back on their CC other than the other 2 above!?? cramp |

I read this and applied for a tesco credit card. I am a company director with an MBNA gold with a balance of CREDIT 38 euros and an AIB with 2200 on it which my company owes me (just need to write a cheque).
I am looking for a credit card with some sort of loyalty/cashback to capitalise on my usage for my company. Tesco refused me !!!! I am sitting here half laughing, half peeeeed off. I was thinking about converting to clubcard deals and getting free personal travel ! Anyone know who is behind the Tesco credit card, I might just give them a ring. |

I briefly did some promotional work for the tesco credit card when it was first launched. While doing so, the best story we hear was a tesco regional manager actually being refused a card.
As my friend put it at the time, the only people they want to give tesco cards to seem to be the people who wouldn't be caught dead with them. I don't know what their refusal policies are, but I believe that people quite often get refused very unexpectedly (i.e. in your situation, where you haven't got a large debt, etc.) |

I was planning to be a smart whore and put my cash and carry and travel expenses on the card, as well as some half price buying in tesco and then converting the points to vouchers for irish ferries or something similar.
I could put 5 grand a year through it if I tried. So, does anyone know what bank is behind the card? Are there any more cards that may be suitable.?? |

I had a Pigsback CC for a while but after dealing with MBNA's customer service, I vowed never again to have an MBNA CC though I was tempted recently to get one again because I've been using my CC to buy stuff for our new house and I could've gotten loads of Pigsback points over the past month or two.

Well this is rip off Ireland, the best these institutions can offer is .5% return..
while in the UK there are plenty offering CASH back ... not vouchers!!!! I recently put a 4000euro bill through my pigsback cc and expected the 4000 points, but this at present has been reduced to 2000 points... the 4000 points would have giving me (roughly) 40euro cash in vouchers to be spent on pigsback, now i only get 20euro in vouchers.... The comments above are interesting about Tesco CC and there refusals... At present there CC seems to be the best value as although it still comes back in vouchers, they are CASH in THEIR store.... I will apply to Tesco and tell u guys how i get on!! cramp |
