520 2003 problem with Coolant system

work Colleague who has a 5 series 2003 2 litre petrol.

was telling me about what happened her car so said I’d put on here to see what people think
owns car over 2 years. last Jan problem arose with coolant light on leaking etc. long story short was brought to BMW Garage in Dublin and repaired costing roughly 3K 3 or 4 months later and Coolant system is knackered again cos of overheating etc head gasket was replaced and cost in region of 3K have seen the invoice for this it includes headgasket , compression test all other various tests etc.

Now the light is just after coming on again and when she puts in coolant into the radiator it seems to flow straight through onto the ground. When she called garage they are humming and hawing saying she may have to pay depending on when they take a look at it
Can garage actually get away with something like this where the same problem is repeatidly causing the problem and having spent over 6K on repairs in less than 9 months she may have to fork out more money again
sounds crazy?

I think she was crazy to pay the second €3k to fix a problem after it was supposedly fixed the first time.

It does sound crazy, it also sounds is if the garage in question is clueless. I certainly would not pay then another cent.

Coolant pouring straight out should be very easy to diagnose. If you get nowhere with them try ACcarsales, they have a good reputation and won't rip you off.

Ya have suggested AC alright though once you go to them you wll still be paying cash for something that has been paid for twice already.

I wouldnt mind but this garage is a top dublin BMW dealer - i find it unbelievable myself

Jesus, thats mental. Sound like it was never fixed properly in the
first place, i'm guessing it could be the water pump at fault.
Take them to court sounds like her only course or get the car fixed
for free.

I wouldnt be paying that kind of money to fix a 03 5 series in the first place. What was the original repair that cost 3k? Was it head gasket too? This is madness.
