Interviewing a band

I've been asked to interview a local band for my college newspaper. I've never done an interview before, and so I'm looking for advice from both interviewers and interviewees.
If anyone here has interviewed a band before, what type of questions did you ask?
If people here have been interviewed with their band, what kind of questions did you like/hate being asked?

Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. Oh and mods; if this should be in another forum, by all means move it.

Trent broke her neck with a sickening karate chop that probably would of even killed a man or any animal you can think of, a lion easily. not an elephant lets not be silly but it was a hard chop."

The 1 question that annoys me is when they start asking about the recording of "the album" you always get some pretentious nerd rambling on about "yaw we just went into the studio and sorcha played this note and the producer marcus kingston jones who's a great guy by the way just said you guys that's awesome..........."

Ask them have they got any good stories about being in a band.
Don't ask them if they get nervous before a show, that will just make them nervous for the interview.
Do the interview in a pub and only ask your real questions when everyone has had at least 2 gargles to loosen their tongue.
Don't ask the singer all the questions.
Ask them what they see as success for their band.
If they sound like a certain band (coldplay for example) ask them what they think of people comparing them to coldplay, you should get some good answers out of that.

At the end of the day, all bands want is good exposure, make them look good and not common, give them a good quote that they can use in BIO's and press releases etc. even if you make it up
