You're 18 with a 1.4, won't getting anything cheaper, Quinn is nearly always the cheapest for young drivers.

At 20 with a 1.0 my premium was 1,700 with 0 NCB, lose the 1.4 and your premium will drop...

Ye don't know how good ye have it, I was paying over IR£2000 on a 1.4 when I had 3 years ncb and full licence at 21 years of age !! (2001 ish).

Try AXA. They are usally fairly good. If you're with a broker they sholud get you the cheapest insurance.

That's pretty good going.

What was the point in going for a 1.4?

I would say the cheapest way for you to get insurance would be to go for a Fiat Cinquecento. 0.9 engine. You would be down to at least 1700. And they cost very little.

And I wouldn't go changing my car for something that's cheaper to insure. It might save you a few hundred in insurance, but you lose a lot of money when changing car.

I would say he likes the idea of being able to out accelerate something else on the road. Like the granny with the Zimmerframe on the path beside him.

My sister is 18 and has a 2003 1.4 Octavia, she has a full licence and 1 year NCB. I put a value of about €3,000 on it.

Insurance is about €700 with quinn in her own name.

We put in male when doing the quote (2 months ago) and it jumped to about 1,200. A lot, but not bad and better than how the OP is doing.

Try www.insure.ie . Ring them up though and you'll get a cheaper quote than online

Was she already insured for the past year in her own name, to be able to have a 1 year NCB and if so was it with Quinn?.
