What does 'G' stand for in steel structural Properties?
The title says it all. Can't remember what G stands for in structural steel properties and need to calculate it. I've googled it but couldnt find what I was looking for. Don't have any notes to hand.
Cheers for the help. |

If this is correct how would I calculate its value for an I beam. G = E / 2(1+v) v = poissons ratio v (for steel) = 0.25 - 0.3. is this correct? Last edited by AIR-AUSSIE; 26-08-2009 at 17:39. |

Off the top of my head, that looks right, but I'll check it out for you in a while and confirm it.
