Well, if the Engineer is working, I'm going to try one of those. A Norn one, probably. My best times in GW were in the Eye of the North, so I might head straight to Gunnar's Hold and set up there.

Engineer is working it always has been! Also I don't want to be the one to tell you this but there was a terrible accident.

"Gunnar's Hold, home of and named after Gunnar Poundfist, was the largest center of norn activity in the Shiverpeak Mountains until the awakening of the Elder Dragons. When Jormag forced the norn south, it had its icebrood swarm the homestead and had Gunnar's Hold crushed underneath a glacier."
The new home for the Norn is Hoelbrak.

Here is a very interesting article about how the world has shifted and changed from the awakening of the Elder Dragons.

Hope you have fun

Hi all!

Beta Weekend this weekend! Wooop!

Hope you are all as excited as I am! So this weekend i hope to get as many people as possible onto Mumble! Get your friend on and your Auntie Patsy on!

I hope we can really get some good chat and loads of people onto mumble for some craic!

There are individual rooms on mumble and a general lobby for everyone! Come on and have a blast.

Some of my hopes for this weekend.

1. WvWvW with a good few people on mumble we can make our own small party to take out supply points and small towers.

2. Dungeons with everyone on mumble ( Will be good craic )

3. General socialising with everyone.

For all those that don't know mumble is a voice communication programme like Ventrilo and Teamspeak but better and cheaper to host

You can find the download here.

Info for the Mumble Server:

Quote:
IP: mountaingaming.mdns.co
Port: 64765

*No Password*
Get everyone who is playing on and we can all communicate and have some fun!

Also currently we are playing on the Ring of Fire server but this will probably change after the Beta weekends. But go there for now if you are new.

Ohhh ... that's not good. Still, the Norn are nothing if not resourceful, and I look forward to seeing Hoelbrak.

(I meant the World of that name, of course - one of the new EU ones. I saw the previous post about "Desolation" being where all the "good" guilds are, and their WvW record last time was 6-0, but I don't care. What is there to "win" at this stage?)

There's been at least one more update since the one Uncle Sam posted about (I haven't been checking the client everyday). This one is about 1300 files.

On a side note about Hoelbrak, I was delighted to find, during the last BWE, that I could easily travel there and that the fang from Jormag was on display and you could attack it!

Will probably roll a warrior this weekend. I did have a lot of fun on the last BWE with the Necromancer Charr (I chose Necro since that I was a Necro in GW1)

So uh, BWE is not supposed to launch for another hour, I managed to log in and play a character there. No sign of any other PC's though.

Edit: Scratch that, other people here.

Downloading the update now, hope the fixed some of the optimization issues. Planning on continuing my WvWvW streak.

\o/ (Even though there is a mis-match since ArenaNet added a load more servers since the last BWE)

Yeah Desolation hasnt had much of a challenge either, you would think they would organise it so the more populated and experienced servers got matched up with each other

If you win a set you go up a bracket and if you lose you go down one, since its a beta and only lasts 2 or 3 sets the matchmaking is useless until retail.

I know how it works, what i mean is they had the data from the previous weekend and the stress test so setting up the winning/populated servers would have been pretty simple and a good way to stress test wvw

There's loads of new servers added which complicates things and they only got 6 samples of how a server did assuming they were part of the first beta weekend. Hard to balance off that since you have no idea what the new servers will be like.

Its not really, they have population numbers, the new servers have low population and the old ones have high ones, its simple math tbh
What do you mean 6 samples?

Each server fought 6 different sets of WvWvW in the first beta. I agree that they should have used some of the data but ~I guess they just don't have the matchmaking working yet.
