How to join engineer's Ireland without paying a fee?

My friend was in the middle of doing his BA in computer science and some how joined engineer's Ireland in a limited way, without paying any fee.

How was this done?

I thought it was strictly for engineering qualifications and that you had to have a qualification to be eligible to join.

What are the benefits?

give em a ring and ask about student membership. They'll get you a form and explain all the benefits.

The BA in Computer Science, Trinity is accredited by Engineers Ireland, click here to view all accredited courses http://www.engineersireland.ie/services/programme-accreditaton/accredited-programmes/

Students studying accredited courses can apply for free student membership, click here to apply online http://www.engineersireland.ie/forms/student.php?stepID=1, in your final year you will receive the Engineers Journal free of charge. Upon graduation you can transfer to full membership free of charge and for your first full year of membership you will receive a 50% discount on your membership fees and receive a voucher for CPD Training Courses worth €200.
