Hellboy 2:The Golden army

I know very little in detail of Irish mythology, but (if you've seen it) I think the plot of this film is stolen, names included from a story of how the fairy world battled with the humans for control of Ireland.[I've read it somewhere on wikipedia but can't find the article].Am I wrong?

I thought you'd get more replies on this one OP.

I loved this film and would recommend it to anyone.

Especially when they start singing.

Besides that, yeah I noticed the Irish folkore references throughout the film.

other than that I probably know as much as you on the subject.

I hope you get some serious folklorist answering this thread as I'd also like to know more about the background to this film.

On another note, I heard that the directer is making the Hobbit.
Move over Mr. Jackson.

Great movie, the bit where he goes into the troll town deserves a movie in itself

BUT, I think you are referring to the ancient myth/belief of the Sidhe (modern; sí)

I also noticed they made Irish references. Not sure if these are based on any truth but i do know that the Irish film board paid them to film in ireland so maye thats why they mention Irish references...

Hellboy is a damn good film. However not to sure what to think bout the scene with the giants-Causeway.
There is a lot of Irish folklore references in it, any shed of light?

Not sure it was filmed in ireland. IMDB says the Giants Causeway was only used as an aerial flyby shot

What scared me about that film was that I understood most of what Nuada and his people were saying - they were speaking Middle Irish! Things like 'bás' and 'ná déan'!
