Scrren Display Problems

Hi People

I have a new computer with Samsung Syncmaster 2343nw 23" screen. I am having display problems on some programs. The programs are fine on my laptop. The layout on the programs seems to be squashed and overlapping. I have include a screen shot of the problem. The screen is set at the optimum resolution 2048 x 1152, changing the resolution does nothing.
Any help would be appreciated.
