DVD Drive for laptop

I have just been taken aback by a quotation of 207 euros for an internal DVD drive for a laptop.
Is this normal or can you buy them cheaper than this?

Depends on the laptop you have and what you were actually quoted for. What make and model was that quote in relation to?

Edit: Did that include labour for installing the drive?

Purchased an external LG DVD/CD Rom drive for my desktop today in PC World for €49. You could consider that option. Daisy

The exact model is of the drive is DVD SM DL SL NEC AD-7590A. It's for a Fujitsu-Siemens amilo. The price is for the item only plus delivery not installing

Yes I think that's the way I'll have to go I was just a bit surprised at the price of a fairly standard replaceable component considering that an internal drive for a desktop is about 30e

How about THIS then?

Not sure about shipping though but seems a lot cheaper.

I'd be amazed if you couldn't use a bog standard Sony\NEC Optiarc drive in that laptop. I was studying the picture linked by Dulchie and it looks like a normal shaped otpical drive.

The model listed commonly is the Sony\NEC Optiarc: AD-7590A

Specs from Sony site: http://www.sony-optiarc.us/en/produc...ives/ad-7590a6

Elara.ie - 40.10 euro - http://www.elara.ie/products/details...ode=MMEW520085

Based in Dublin - you CAN collect from them once your order arrives.. and they contact YOU. It's basically a work hatch at a retail park, or they deliver by post etc.
