Good post, Max. I've played through a few missions of OFP:DR and I'm really liking it. It reminds me of OFP, with the huge map, cumbersome controls and sometimes frustrating AI, but ultimately rewarding. I just finished a 2 hour mission, assisting an AI SpecOps team, taking out a few patrols and a SAM site, calling in a fire mission, reconing a crash site, attacking an armoured convoy, rescuing some downed pilots and then getting picked up by an SH-60. It was so good!

Myself and some friends still play OFP MP to this day (FDF mod) on account of the shocking quality of ARMA when it was released, and I subsequently couldn't bring myself to give BI anymore of my money after they released it like that. So is ARMA II worth actually buying or will it just make me cry in frustration like ARMA?

It is a really really bad game. Which sucks cos I was really looking forward to it. Yea it's buggy and clunky, but at it's core it's just incredibly boring. It's not gonna get fixed with a patch so anybody who's reading this and hasn't bought it, don't.

Fidelis,
Arma 2 is all about the multiplayer. It seems you have a gang of mates who you play with, I would recommend you all get it and come join the server (currently down at the mo) we use. It really is brilliant when playing MP, and the community keeps it going with new maps, weapons, missions etc. Check our armaholic.com.

2 hours
4 of us playing coop got thru it in 20 mins, honestly. If You're getting killed it prob seems alot longer than it is. The missions in this are very short, in fact we commented on how little there was in each mission, its just spread out and hard, not much content.

Lies! Anyway, co-op is always going to be streaks ahead. Better human aim, less giving orders etc. but you'd have to just drive straight to the crash site (2km away) to do that in 20 minutes! Sure it takes about 5 minutes to hump it up to the first fire-fight and clear out the enemy, and another 5 minutes hump up to the extraction point from where the pilots are. I'm playing Hardcore (no checkpoints), so I was being cautious

Thanks for the info, cashville.

Anywhere, at launch in June it was only €30 in Game, might even have dropped but €30 is not that expensive IMO. Be sure to patch it before playing.

Have a look at the stickies for the basic controls and what they're trying to achieve. Get used to the basic controls with the armoury and sp game and get online with it, but don't expect to understand fully how to play for a month of playing, we've been playing for 3 months and are still finding new things, its evolving and changing all the time. We're working on getting as a server back up, see You then

Need help with the Spoiler: Infiltration of the Fuel Depot level.
Whats the best point of entry? I've left my squad up in the tree line to give myself a better chance of getting in and out without being seen but someone always does (dont know who) and the alarm goes off.

Cheers

Well I think so, as do a bunch of other guys here. It is complex though, there's a learning curve but if a hardcore military sim is to your taste, then there's nothing better than Arma.

As far as OF2 is concerned, it actually reminds me more of the early Ghost Recon games than the original flashpoint.

Some guy has filed a lawsuit against Codemasters for false advertising, his full list of proof is on page 4, worth the lol, they've banned him of course
http://community.codemasters.com/for...d.php?t=388092

He does raise a valid argument though
