We're the only non-extinct species who do it. And I'm not entirely sure we actually are the only ones. My dog seems fairly into cooked meat so I doubt its a big deal. Plenty of humans eat raw food too.

I guess one consequence is we're less likely to build up resistance to bacteria in raw meats, seeing as we eat cooked meat not really an issue.

Well your dog doesnt cook it himself does he? Well the point I'm trying to make is that humans are the only species with a massive amount of different diseases and the only other species who develop diseases are those that are under the care of humans. Maybe there is a link between the diseases and diet?? What are we doing to our bodies by cooking our food?

What? All of that is complete and utter...

You know what we're doing by cooking our food? Making it easier to digest.

Of course there is. Eat bad diet, give yourself disease. Change bad diet, reverse disease.

It's believed that the consequences of the composition of the modern diet (rather than the fact that the food is "cooked" alone) are the so-called "diseases of affluence" for example cancer, hypertension, stroke, CHD etc. We discussed it as part of a nutrition module in college.

Essentially it is believed that the high amount of processed, preserved food, fat, sugar etc. in a typical western diet could contribute to the aetiology of these diseases, because it can be observed that these diseases are almost non-existent in less-developed countries where a far more basic diet is eaten.

There are quite a few studies that have been carried out that appear to support this.
Although I'm not sure if that's what you meant...

I guess you have a point about humans cooking foods in fat. But simply cooking them, no I don't think there's an issue. I'll give you an update when i finish my nutrtion degree
