Who make the best immigrants IYO?

OK, it's not a PC thread but don't worry. I'm not going to accuse you of racism. Just asking who are the best immigrants in your experience. I live in a highly globalised place full of people coming in and out, tourists, foreign students, migrant workers etc.

My personal experience-(English I am)

Turkish/middle eastern-v good.
Indian-goodish
Pakistani-not so good
African-pretty good.
West Indian-OK.
Polish-not so good on experience. Rude.
Irish-pretty good, friendly.
French/German...meh...shrugs

So what do you reckon?

Tbh, I wouldnt base my like/dislike on nationality. There are Polish people living next door, the girls are lovely, the men appear snobbish and stuck up. But that may be just be their culture.

I've met small numbers of diverse immigrants in Australia.

Irish people can be very caught up in an image of themselves as popular with everyone, which isn't always the case! They can be a bit cliquey.

Asian immigrants can be fantastically conscientious and hard-working, generally.

Eastern Europeans and Russian immigrants do the work required, but can be very insular.

Continental Europeans are well-liked and easy to get along with, but a bit less dedicated.

These are only personal impressions based on small numbers of immigrant groups. The European experience might be very different.

Btw, I'm a first gen Australian of Irish/Swedish parentage.

Polish people - Good
German people - Sehr gut
Czech people - Good in a dour sarcastic kind of way
Finns/Nordics - Good
Estonian/Latvian/lithuania - bordering on not good (female hotness compensates)
Russian - Good if grim
Romanian - Good
Swiss - don't think I have ever met a swiss immigrant (stay at home pansies)
Roma - not good
Albanian - not good
African (yep I know its a continent - relax) - not so good
zimbabwe &
Nigeria &
south africa - double plus not good, minus points.
American - ok - (except the ones who'se purpose in life is to complain about our immigration system)
Canadians - good hey
Afghanistani- probably not so good in a security checks kind of way
Pakistani - probably not so good " "
The rest of the middle east - (lets not go there & say we did).
India - ok (need to up the minimum wage though)
english (note the lowercase) - ok
scots - ok
Welsh - Good
French - Good
Spanish -Good
Italian - Good
Dutch - ok but wierd in a disturbing kind of way

That's very interesting. I mean, your background, Irish, Swedish and now Oz. How did that occur. Scandinavian immigration particularly intrigues me. Because I thought they were very reluctant to leave. Dunno how Swedes would like OZ. Irish are varied, in my experience, but you do meet some of the most charming ones. As one travel book said they 'restore your faith n humanity'. A lot of folks don't like the French and think they are arrogant.

Well if its to pick one, then I'd say the Chinese. They socialise (a bit), work hard, and generally don't bring in much crime with them. (I am not including the US in this, since they're a weird ole country when it comes to immigrants).

After that, I'd look at the other Asian nationalities. There is something in the Asian psychie that lets them fit in.

Can't say I agree about the South Africans, I've known a few a got on great with them; more so with the "English" ones than the Afrikaaners though.
