Would it be a good idea if Taylor retired?

That was one of the worst finals I've ever seen. Totally one sided and very boring! The man seems to be too good and I find his matches really boring at the moment! I felt like turning off the final half way through as it was totally boring (hate to say it)! If he retired we would have closer matches all the time and it would be more interesting! Thoughts please?

i'd say give it two more years then he should, he would be a great commentator and analyst. i have been saying for a while now that i don't watch Taylor's games anymore (so i have missed so many 9 darters)
cuase that are very boring, you like seeing a hard fought game but with Taylor is looks like he does'nt enjoy it sometimes.

you can't hate him for being good, he puts in more practice then anyone else i just think he's kinda making the sport predictable, you know he's gonna win and which is worse so do most of the player he plays casen point Terry Jenkins 2night, he had already lost the game before he got up on stage

When Taylor developed his game years ago with his 'stacking' of darts in the treble no one else took it on ( or couldn't) and he has won everything that he deserved to and will win more. Retire, no! Let the rest catch up!

The best darts player ever, I dont like him though , not because I'm jealous or anything but because I dont like his personality! He's just too good at times which makes for boring matches 95% of the time! Somebody please step up to the plate!

+1..why should he suffer when he has worked so hard on his game..
went to a peter manley night and he stressed how much taylor practices to the point where the rest of the pro's look up to him..

why do people always knock the top guy when he has worked hard to get there??...

I would much rather watch one really top player playing to the best of his ability than watch a bunch of relatively averages perfomances by people who can achieve much more.

Taylor has commented on more than one occassion about the amount of effort he puts in compared to others. Its not his fault the other players are not putting in the effort to try catch him. Great sportsman see a challenge and then put in the work to try overcome that challenge but unfortunately no one is doing that at the moment. Taylor shouldn't be retiring because he is too good, not a chance, he deserves to win everything he does, even if it completly shows up everyone else.

There are many players with great potential coming through and the sport in general has huge potential but it needs the rest of the players to start taking it as serious as Taylor.

Id agree with that .Theres just something about his personality that annoys me.
He comes across as confrontational.

Why would you retire when your top of your game?

I think there is a better chance of finding thr cure of cancer then there is talyor being beaten right now, the other comments about stacking are spot on, barney is trying it but not doing it good enough. no one is doubting that Taylor is the hardest working player in the game, but how entertaining is it to see one player win over and over again and with ease, like i said before it's very boring

During the match tonight the commentators where saying about giving Taylor a handicap in games which got me starting this thread! I like to see close games not one sided boring matches.

I actually dont like Taylor personality but as a darts player well he is the best, and although him winning may be boring we shouldn't be asking the question of him retiring, we should be asking what do the other players need to do to be able to compete with him seriously.

For me they all have the ability to be scoring big and hitting the doubles when they need to but the difference between Taylor and everyone else is concentration. For me the physical condition of alot of the players is a problem when it comes to concentration, in the semi's it was easy to see and the commentators also mentioned how the heat got to Jenkins and King. This is obviously going to effect concentration, and being in a better physical condition will help players concentration. Fair enough Taylor isn't the pinical of fitness, but its not effecting his game, it clearly is for others. There have been a few times where I cant help but think to myself some of the players just look physically uncomfortable when playing, such as Lewis on a few occassions. If the players want to take the game seriously I think this is something which should be looked at. I'm not saying all players should be able to run a few miles, but they should be able to compete and not let their physcial condition effect their concentration.
