The Final
Steve Davis just said to Denis Taylor in commentary 'It would be interesting to know how long the tip stays on the cueball'. Denis replied 'that would be very interesting Steve'.

Is it just me or is the standard pretty poor in this final? They both seem to be missing shots that they should be potting, and it's been pretty disappointing for me. You expect the final to be about two players at the top of the game showing their skills, and whoever blinks suffers, but neither is performing as well as they can. A stat that just came up there is that the long pot success is 48% and 55%, that's p*ss poor.

The standard of play was poor in the first session this afternoon, no doubt about it. Higgins looked wrecked tired and Murphy was just playing poorly.
John showed his class though in those final few frames. He went up several gears. An absolutely magnificent 128 total table clearance, followed by a further century in the final frame with a 90+ and a 50+ sandwiched in there as well. Higgins leads 11-5. Big lead. I suspect he will get a very good night's sleep tonight. I expect to see him refreshed for tomorrow afternoon's session and to come out firing on all cylinders to put the game to bed. |

Definately. Anyone else notice that Higgins really seems to want it, whereas Murphy looks alot more cool and relaxed, where he shouldn't really be considering how hes playing.
Higgins has that look on his face, like when Allen was closing in on him....hope he finishes it off comfortably tomorrow, he deserves it imo

Steve Davis's 18-3 drubbing of John Parrot also springs to mind. |
