Had hoped to do a 3 - 4:30 hour run but I was feeling lazy and just popped out for 8.2 instead. Legs felt fine other than a bit of stiffness at the start. Was a bit slower than yesterday, but I'm glad I got to 8 as I was all set to cut it down to 4 miles when I just drifted to the right instead of the left and got an extra 4 in. 8 miles when it could so easily have been 0. Nice start to August.

18 miles this evening. Incredibly the fastest of the 3 weekend runs @ under 9 mins/mile average pace. 43 miles in total over the weekend so not a bad weekends running I suppose. Felt great today, legs felt loose and I went out at sub 8:30 pace, had to remind myself I was aiming for 18-22 so tried to pull back but it just wasn't happening, even on the hills. No water and no fuel, as usual, and still never really felt the need for it. Last mile was over 9:30 so I probably could have done with a gel on about mile 15 or 16 to give me an extra kick. Was going to add a 3 mile loop at the end - but I was too lazy.

Nice start to August.

9.17 easy run around the park. Had planned on a recovery run yesterday but decided I deserved a rest.

Midlands? Roscommon? I've never been is it nice there?

Second last would do but as close as possible to 8 hours would be even better!

Edit: But of course, I'm not doing Dingle, I don't know why people keep bringing it up...

2.5 easy. Knee was a bit tender today so didn't want to push it so kept the run short, flat and a little too fast.

19 miles today. Was having a few problems with my knee(the edinburgh one) walking around work yesterday so gave running a miss yesterday. Once I do plenty of stretching, foam roller work and some self massage on my ITB I should be OK. Didn't feel it while running today but it hit me as I walked round to the shop afterwards, leaving me limping for a bit.

Leeds game on BBC now. Good to have the real football back.

Tidy getting 19 miles in. There's a knee shop in Edinburgh? Must get me some spares

Pity bout that, but Schmeichel looks like he's going to be a class act for you guys! No shame in losing to a team which are likely to get promoted again, and for once Robbie Savage didn't deserve the yellow card he got!

I hope no one wasted their time watching that crap. Normal service resumed anyway...

Only consolation was getting to look at Rob Hulse again for 90 minutes.

BBC waffling on about how that'll bring the Leeds fans back down to earth, tempted to email them and tell them that the last time we lost our first game of the season it was to Newcastle in 1989 and we got promoted to the top flight that season. Hopes and dreams, hopes and dreams...

First game of the season, no worries, 45 to go. 'The Ghost' had a great game.

Howson? He did really well for Becchio's goal, I thought he was going to shoot. Went missing a few times though and screwed up for Hulse's goal, Howson has so much ability and when he shows what he can do he is really impressive but still makes a lot of mistakes. Johnson shooting every time he came within 25 yards of goal was just annoying. Bessone and Connolly didn't have the best of debuts hopefully it was ''first game nerves''. We need Kisnorbo and Parker back, Collins had to cover for Naylor a good bit aswell. I thought the defence was quite poor, then again it wouldn't be the first choice defence if everybody was fit.

Kisnorbo, Parker, Snoddy, Gradel and Paynter all to return as well. Becchio is going to be a VERY important player for us this season.

10 miles today to round off a 60 mile week. Had hoped to do another 3 hour run to get about 20 miles in again today but I opted for staying in bed watching TV instead. Was feeling quite tired despite a half decent nights sleep being awake at 7am after 19 miles yesterday and drinks last night though probably didn't help. Woke up to knocks on the front door this morning...

Knee was at me as soon as I started the run, I was hobbling a bit so decided that if it was still sore at half a mile - I'd turn home. By the time I hit the church on about 600 metres it had eased big time, by the time I hit half a mile it was gone so I took the risk of pounding down the hill on St. Laurences Road and all was good so I knew I'd hit the 10 from there. Just over 9 minutes a mile on average although the average time was dragged up as I walked half the way up Chapelizod hill, I wasn't risking running up that one!

6 recovery mlies, reaaaaaally slow was more of a run/walk. Was quite hot and I was wheezy, so I took my time and took it easy. Also felt like I'd doubled my bodyweight over night. Bad day.
