Rearranged the weekends plan with the missed run this morning. Decided to get the LSR done today to free up some more time tomorrow.

17 miles around the park and inchicore. Felt fresher finishing than I did starting. Could have done another 10 miles at that pace. Great to have a long run done again and for it to feel so easy.

And thoughts return to Rotterdam...

Had hoped to get out on the bike yesterday but knowing I might not escape today and with the LSR being priority I wanted to make sure I did that yesterday.

Had a nice 65-70k route worked out but didn't get out till 12:30(well was raring to go at about 12 but the garmin wasn't playing ball) only managed to make it to the park on the bike today. 68k in total about 24/25 kph, main thing was to actually get out and spend time on the bike so very happy with that even if laps of the park isn't very exciting.

3 mile run this evening to play with my new runners. Plan was for 8ish yesterday with the hill session and 17 today. That would have brought me to 50 miles for the week, still over 40 miles running for the week Mon - Sun but hit 48 miles for Sun - Sat so twas a good weeks running and the running is definitely back on track.

Hey RQ,

You mentioned that you'll do Donadea with max of 18 milers.

If you were going on to do Conn Ultra what could you get away with?

The first time I did Conn I did it off probably 30 - 35 miles a week. Second time I did marathon training then weekends of back to back LSR's of 18 + 16 and 16 + 16 in the 5 weekends between the two. If I was doing Conn I'd probably do a couple of 24's or something between Donadea and Conn.

17 miles felt easy yesterday (and I actually enjoyed it), didn't expect to be back doing these numbers yet, so I'm planning to try for 20 next week and 24 over the next couple of weeks now. More with a wild dream of training for Rotterdam marathon than Donadea.

Meh...sounds like you could easily upgrade from Conn 1/2 to Ultra and still have a massive 2 weeks to recover for Rotterdam

Nike Free. I got the TR which isn't technically a running shoe, lifestyle had it with the running shoes and displayed it with the running gear though...

Hit the park this morning for 8x800m. Was doing these around the pitches on the acres road and it was tough going for every second one into the wind. After the 5th one about half way through my recovery some nice little old man on his morning walk decided he wanted to stop me and have a little chat. My mistake probably, stupidly friendly I said good morning as I saw him.

After a chat about me being amazing for running something about all the mountains he walks up, then he starts telling me that men don't like skinny women anyway (I think he was calling me fat), talking about gay men and models being too skinny because men like sturdy women. Jesus.

Made my excuses and made my escape, next rep was awful being that I was cold and all then I ran into one of the masters ladies from the club.

Aside from the fact I felt sluggish at the start, doing intervals in the mornings on your own, in the park is a stupid idea.

10.3 miles overall. Not quite the pace I was hoping for but happy enough with that. Fitness and speed coming back.

Wonder if he's rich, late 70's/early 80's by the time I'm mid 30's he'd be dead and gone and I could be a rich widower. Missed a trick there. Damn.

AM: 1200m swim. Kept this short, concentrating on technique. My mind drifts too easily in the pool - I'll concentrate on what I'm meant to be doing for about half a length then I'm away with the fairies.

PM: Plan was for 7 miles easy - forgot to bring the garmin to work Had already planned a routed that was roughly 7 miles but my foot was sore, sharp pain with every stride so I turned off early. 4.4 miles in total.
