Ancient radio modified to atc

I was just messing around with this old stereo earlier and wanted to see what was going on in the skies so I modified the frequency to pick up atc and i was impressed of the quality from such an old radio. this is a real aircraft scanner folks the decibels from the sound of this aircraft scanner (ancient radio) are akin to a jumbo jet taking off. picks them up ok though, didn't think it would work as good as it does.

no input at all, it's coming from the radio itself it's a full conversion from 88-108mhz to 108-136mhz, re-tuned by manipulating the variable capacitors and coil tuners.

Sweet, nice work!
Reason i suspected was the two different frequencies coming out of it (tower and area control) but i assume its due to 118.6(twr) and 118.5(fis) being so close together?

excellent observation and that is correct. the two frequencies are very close together but i might narrow the bandwidth to try and cancel out this from happening. most of the tower channels are well spaced but this one on the frequencies you mentioned are the only problem with crossover.

Nice work, well done Zenno. If nothing else you saved your self a few bob on a scanner. Infairness though, I don't know of any which would give the sound so clear as that.
