If you can get a copy of the Link up (Church on sundays has it), it lists all the different classes in the Parish Centre in Portlaoise, they run both Pilates and Yoga classes, I've done the yoga, but didn't enjoy it due to the teacher.

Dance Classes

The Dance classes usually run for the ten weeks leading up to Christmas. Watch your letter box and the paper, you'll hear plenty about them! :-)

SJ the college in Clane always has a huge range of courses

http://www.clanesm.com/

and here's the link for Portlaoise

http://www.portlaoisecollege.ie/eveningclasses.html

The local one in Portarlington had a tiny range of classes last year so not sure what they are doing this year..

Hi Op

the complete Laois VEC night course list is now available at http://www.laoisvec.ie/laoisvec/File...Nightclass.doc They are advertising youga and pilates this year again.
Ditto re the Link-up for the parish centre courses.

If you are looking for info on the Third Level centre and adult Ed centre and part-time day and evening courses in Portarlington ring 057 8623161.

You can also ring the Adult Guidance service which has information , theoretically on all of the courses in the Laois area as well as the surrounding counties. 057 8672963.

Hatha yoga availble in Tullamore at Root to Light Yoga Space:
Gabi Gillessen
Wood of O, Tullamore, Co. Offaly
+353 (0)57 93 20478
+353 (0)86 379 66776
yogabi@eircom.net

Iyengar yoga is run in Club Vitae in the Comfort Inn in Portlaoise but I think you might have to be a member of the gym to do it.

There is also a yoga teacher training course in the Irish School of natural healing in Portloiase 057 8682567.

The Offaly guidance service also has information on courses in that neck of the woods tel: 057 9327104

Went there last Monday. Unfortunately, the list available on the website was different from the one over there. There were some courses missing and I left being a bit disappointed. Wanted to join Irish History and Irish Language and ended up signing to Art History.

Yep - Irish language cancelled again. Ran for one term last year only. Does anyone know of any lessons / groups doing Irish in Portlaoise or the immediate area? Nearest class last year was somewhere west of Tullamore...

To be honest,it depends on the numbers interested,so ask around in advance.
I signed up for German last Autumn and nobody else did-so obviously ,didn't do it.
Some of the other secondary schools in Laois run courses throughout the year too.

Good luck.
