Windows media display options.

Hello ,I'm a little bit annoyed with something in media centre and I wonder if someone can help

Basically I hooked up a new graphics card yesterday.I used a component out lead that it came with.
Everything was going well and I was happy with the quality ,but when I try looking at television with it ,everything is letterboxed 4:3.

I tried going back into Nvidia control panel ,but nothing seemed to work and I couldn't find anything that would fix it for me.

So ,I connected up the card with a DVI-HDMI cable and that seems to remedy the letterbox problem .The only thing is the tv is a plasma and there is speckles from the HDMI cable ,I think it's happening because of the digital thing.
Comoponent looked far better than the hdmi connection ,when it was displaying graphics (internet) ,but I can't watch TV on it
Any suggestions ?

Just out of interest Brian , how is the HDMI cable with the new drivers ? Unless the cable is actually faulty it shouldnt be the cause of the speckles , most likely thats the card /driver thing as well.

When I was using the component on an nvidia 8500 , the picture was randomly blurring, but this was down to the incredibly thin RCA cables coming from the adaptor they supplied with the card , wiggling it would change the picture quality. The DVI /HDMI on the other hand was perfect ( after numerous driver updates that is ).

Hdmi is grand and very easy to use with the nvidia control panel.
My television is coming up as panasonic on vista and it seems to know what resolution to have the tv at aswell.

I was getting a problem when I installed the drivers first ,the input display box (1080i) kept coming up on the television intermittenly.
I rolled backed the drivers and installed them without kaspersky running and it seems to be ok now.

With regards to the speckles I am seeing ,there always on the plasma with rich solid colours . Say there was white occupying half the screen ,I could see the gas burning in the whiteness(hard to explain) It's like the screen is moving ,even though it's just a solid colour.
It's not a problem with hdmi ,it's just something I've noticed on my tv.
