Can anyone recommend interior lighting for a living room cabinet with glass doors, side panels and shelving. I have looked in diy stores but think that the halogen downlighters available there get too hot for the INSIDE of display cabinets. What I really need to know is a) am I right about the halogen downlights b)are there specialised downlights for the interior of cabinets c) what brands, types,wattage etc are best and safest, and d) where might I find them in the south Leinster/Dublin region.

You can buy 20 watt cabinate downlighters that can be mounted surface or flush. They take a tiny capsule type lamp. They come in a nice chrome finish as well as other finishes.

You can buy them in Euoales, Kellihers, NEW etc. One 60VA transformer can supply 3 of them.

yes halogen would be hot, cabinate downlighters are good, you could also consider strip lighting with a warm lamp if it fit into the cabinate

just to let you know you can get cabinet downlighters with a t2 gx 53 type cfl bulb which has little or no heat off it. they are a disc type energy saver and come in the usual cfl colours ie warm/cool white. they can also be got in led in various colours.........the only down side is they are very exspensive as bulbs go. usually in 7/9/11 watts.
