What to do with a broken Megadrive mark I?

Recently a friend of mine dropped up a pretty battered old Megadrive.(With a totally battered Bomberman cart sticking out the top) It's been sitting in a shed for over 10 years, so I'm not going to plug it in as it'll probably burn down the house.

After seeing someone make a guitar out of one, I wouldn't mind trying my hand at some similar oddness.I have a heap of multiple consoles, so they could be cannibalized for the cause.

So far all I can think of are;

Putting a snes/ps1 inside of it.
Toaster.
Use it as an external hard drive casing.
DVD player?
Hmmm. It would seem I have no imagination.

Ideas?

Giving it away certainly would be something odd to do with it.

Buy a 2nd 32X & start a Neptune project?

There's the trading sub-forum in Arcade & Retro where stuff comes up, there's also a trading thread in the console modding forum.

But for purchasing, adverts.ie/gumtree.ie/donedeal.ie seem to be where you need to look.

Stop by the console modding forum too, users do put up good guides/logs of their work - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=528

Is it really in that bad nick?
Stick it in a hotpress for a few days to dry out (or do the rice trick)
take it apart , hoover out the dead spiders, change the led for a blue one (a 3 second non soldering job)and sell it on adverts for €5000 as a "super early proto dev megadrive."L@@K RARE!!11! etc
Failing that region/refresh rate mod it (or if you're up for it overclock it and fit RGB out puts ).If you make a mess of it you're not down much

Well it was corroded with rust and falling apart 5 years ago in 2007 when I posted that, so god only knows how bad it is now!

Actually, you know what? This is the Megadrive shell that I put an arcade supergun in. Seems it was used for something weird afterall.

A supergun is a device for playing arcade pcbs on your television. I wasn't able to bring my arcade cab to my last apartment so needed another way of playing them!

Have some pictures I took ages ago. I'd ordered a small power supply to put in the Megadrive case but never really finished the project off. So it's currently running off a PC ATX one.

Here it is connected up to a PGM motherboard -
