While I don't like the stores forcing bundles I don't see why this would cause supply shortages .Most parents would be happy to get a Wii whatever way it comes .Surley it is more a case of Ireland relying on UK distrubtors for there supplies.

I dont have any inside info on this but it would be easier for Argos or whoever to sell units in Britain than to ship them to Ireland .

If people are going to come on this forum to sell their Wii at inflated prices to sespreate parents trying to make their kid's christmases can they at least be honest and admit they are selling the Wii for a large profit because they know they can.

Profiteering is bad enough but pretending that you are not is downright ugly.

Ok, let me buck the trend - I have the good fortune of being based in Italy for the forseeable future. Wii's here are are slightly more plentiful than Ireland so if any parents are really desperate feel free to PM me and i'll pick one up and send it over to Ireland for €270 plus postage asap.

Obviously, being bought in Italy, the manuals will be in Italian but afaik the console can easily be switched to English

This is weird, I had to check the dats on this post to make sue I hadnt pulled up one from last year.
I went through all this last year and in the end got two. I ordered one from Germany that didnt turn up in time for the big day so I bought another on Xmas day in Ireland on ebay and picked it up an hour later. I spent over 700 euros in total to have one Xmas day. At the time I thought it was worth it and I did manage to get my money back on the first buy selling it on ebay.
Keep trying and you will get one, it has to be easier than last year? I have to say your best bet would be to order one at Smyths, they were one of the only shops to come good and have them before Xmas.

I have to just add to this I got a PS3 just over a month ago from Tesco on the 50% back deal and if you dont have one and cannot get a wii then get a PS3 as they are amazing! Sory had to get that in

Mine were both German consoles but the instructions and setting were also in English. All you need is a two pin plug adapter.

Its just downright greed that some people are going out of their way to get wii(s) just so they can sell them at huge profits . I heard of somene paying almost 500 cuid for a wii and a game.I wonder how many of them on sale on ebay are genuine people just trying to get a fair price.Nobody should pay anymore than 300 for a wii so these people wont get the satisfaction of ripping you off.Just re-itterate to your children what pat kenny said on the toy show and pay a fair price

Just back from the local. Just bought Wii for Christmas for 350 euro to keep the young lad happy. There's a local lad selling them for that price. Now, I hate paying over the odds, but seeing some of the money that people are paying on ebay it seems 350 isnt too bad.
Question I have is where are they getting them from? He told me he had 10 in his car ( maybe shoulda robbed the motor ! ) but if no one else can get them, how are these chancers getting them?
Anyways, I'm happy and sorted whatever the price!

THere are some who will always get their hands on rare commodities - through warehouse/shipping contacts but 350 isn't bad considering the guy may have been taking a few risks selling them.

My boyfriends brother works in Germany so I've asked him to pick one up for me over there. However he says he rang the shop in Germany this morning and they told him that games bought in Ireland won't work on Wii's bought in Germany??

Is this true?

That's a bit close isn't it?

Fair enough if it's for themselves, but i guess there'll be a large number buying them for friends etc., even for profit i bet. Which is BS.
Wasn't there something in the paper that most of the Argos staff only get just over minimum wage?
If that's so then they should get first choice on them.

was in manchester in midweek there and theres a game shop outside Piccadily train station (i think the shops called Cex) and they had a wii in the shop window for 280 pounds. thats 400 euro! luckily i was lucky enough to get a wii a few weeks ago in GAME in Tallaght so wasnt forced into even thinking about buying it. i said to myself "it seems expensive but somebody will end up paying it out of desperation. went back the next day (to buy Mario Galaxy) and it was gone!
