We will more than likely add features like flickr collections at some point this year. We just have a bunch of other features higher up the list for now. Hold tight!

I must admit, I'll use pix.ie more, when I have the option to resize.
Sure... Lots of users got new cameras for Christmas and their new 10+ megapixel camera's file size is not something our friends at the Eircom and other ISPs are giving much thought to. In our offices we have a 6 Mbit upload pipe and my photos fly up in a few minutes. At home the same batch might take up to 4 hours which is crap if you just want to get some snaps uploaded.

Resizing seems to be the only viable option for mainstream usability at the moment...

TBH we hadn't given any thought to providing these kind of plug ins... Thinking about it now, thanks to you!

Read a few pages of this...is there an option to delete an album and all pictures in it? Manually deleting a few hundred pictures is a bit burdensome...

Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately we don't currently provide a way to batch delete. Email us directly "help at pix dot ie" and tell us what you want to do and we might be able to assist.

Hey Marcus, you're online! Now would be a great time to ask for an account upgrade... "Can I have a VIP account pretty please?"

I left you a PM about it actually.

Regarding the album - I'll just set it to private for now and if that feature becomes available in the future I'll batch delete a few images.

I don't get notified about PM... I must change that! I'll reply directly.

Marcus,

Any plans to change from 'contacts recent albums' to 'contacts recent photos'? I've noticed when you add a new photo to an existing album, your contacts have no way of knowing it's been added.

Theres a workaround Darren

Photos - Recent Photos

Marcus, in general the site needs a bit of an update. Some things promised a while ago now, but no movement. I'd be interested in using it more, but not really in the present format. Protection Issues being a biggie + general site usage seems to have come down a lot.

I've found the site irritatingly slow to load for me the past week or two.

True, we don't have contacts recent photos... you are right. We'll look into adding that.

This will give everyone's recent photos rather than filtered by your contacts.

Tommie, we have to hold our hands up and say that development of new features has slowed towards the end of last year as other priorities took over. We are back on a big development push again and are currerntly working on groups which we hope to have in place before the Irish Blog Awards (http://awards.ie). We are sponsoring the "Best Photo Blog" and also the photography on the night (@rymus is taking the shots) and would like to have a facility for everyone to contribute their photos by then.

Site usage is way up, it's just that there has been quite a shift towards private profiles recently which obviously don't appear to the public...

Following groups we then introducing the marketplace which will feature the protection you are looking for and the opportunity to sell your work... Hold tight!

We have noticed the same thing and are investigating what is going on. The problem is not with our site, but likely with some external infrastructure. If you find a page loads particularly slowly open up the page source and down the bottom you'll find the time it took us to produce the page. It will look like:

<!--[MA-UI:OK][TIME:14ms]-->

The above states it took us 14ms to render the page. Normally you will not notice anything less than 200ms and on slow pages that we've noticed, the time has consistently been < 100ms. I'll let you know what we find out.

Has anyone else noticed slow page loading and if so can you look at the source and let us know what the time in ms was...

Cheers, Marcus

Cheers, Marcus

Not true, you can filter it by user, at least I can

Marcus, look forward to the upgrades.

Maybe one reason there are more private photos is the issue of protection etc. I know someone whom I guided to site, left any again as they couldn't upload family stuff for family use only, without everyone obtaining a log in?

Hmm, I can't seem to change an album's privacy settings to private:

I go to "share album" and select "All photos in this album are private" and click save but it always reverts to
"All photos in this album can be seen by
Everybody"

In fact, it looks like I can't even select a different option other than everybody when making the album a public one i.e. a public album for friends only etc.

Anyone else has this problem?

edit: okay - my bad - it's just that the default option when you go to change the privacy setting is let everyone see (the photos themselves may be private already). Would it be at all possible Marcus to have it display what the current privacy settings for the album is?

The reason I noticed this was I noticed that this album was still visible on some of my contacts' pages (I had set it to absolutely private).

Yeah, It's not really a problem though.

When you go to change the privacy setting it defaults to Everybody, even though the previous setting was private or something else.

T.

Marcus, when are you going to start to pay for this stuff

This is a bitch to represent... imagine how many permutations of permissions could exist in an album of thousands of photos. Remember on pix.ie you can have LOTS of groups. At the moment you guys only have Friends, Family, Work and Other... But this is gonna change . I have over 20 groups in my list and each can have different permissions on each photo in the album...

There's no way to show that in one screen... so we just default to Everyone!
