Sure you can survive without the Brits . Just kidding.
On 3pay, you can only stream HTTP (no RA/RTSP/MMS). On bill pay, you can stream whatever suits you.

FTP still not working for me!
Quote:
Command: LIST
Error: Transfer channel can't be opened. Reason: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
Error: Could not retrieve directory listing
They really need to fix this.

On 3 Bill Pay Streaming

Yes, does seem to have been an issue with my account provisioning. This is relevant to mobile broadband addon users specifically.

Just spoken to Three in India. Have found that it is important they understand what you mean as they are very focussed on website access and the first two representatives didn't understand that the issue I was having was with Real streams.

Anyway, finally I got to speak to a guy who identified himself as Jimmy. He took a look at their configuration there and found an issue with the provision of services on my account that would cause me to stop having access to streams and he has undertaken to repair it in 24 hours. They are due to call me back tomorrow afternoon to confirm that the issue is resolved.

As I suspected, given that other users were able to stream, this does seem to be an account related problem and I would advise anyone else having these issues to contact customer service and ask for that guy - he's one of the call centre managers apparantly and his English is excellent - possibly better than mine

Will post back tomorrow evening with an update.

Disappointed to hear about the FTP issue still rearing it's ugly head but I do have a sense that now Three are taking on board the magnitude of the problems they face.

Speed isn't so much the issue though anymore(especially after tweaking MTU), it's emails not working right and SMTP not working at all, as well as having to reload pages(sometimes page refuse to load at all and you have to come back several minutes to half an hour later before they do).

If they can fix these, I'll keep the service. Everyone needs to email them saying to especially fix the email.

After 3 months I successfully returned my modem today for a full refund and no early termination fee.

Story :

I had written to them on the 18th July - to head office, customer care, and I think crucially to the 3store where I bought it. Luckily, the area manager was in the store that day, I got a call from him immediately and he agreed a refund if I wasn't happy after the upgrade.

I went to the retail store last Friday to ensure that they were aware of the arrangement - the guy wasn't but he checked with the area manager and called me back to say it was cleared.

Went in yesterday, when the retail guy got on to the disconnections department in customer care (I assume in India) they initially refused to go ahead with the disconnection. They tried to fob me off but I spoke to a supervisor and told him a refund had been verbally agreed. He needed an email confirmation from the area manager, so the store guy arranged for that to happen this morning, phoned me and refunded me for the modem only this afternoon.

(I tried to get back the 3 months bills but no dice on that. Not too bothered - I did actually use at least a gig a month. I will be refunded by check for this months rental).

So if you are looking for a refund, try to find out the name of your retail area manager (I assume there are a number of them, and I am not going to name the guy I dealt with here) and ensure that he/she is copied on any correspondance. The Area Manager can authorise a disconnection - all he/she needs to do is send an email to the relevant dept. in customer care.

(And I have to say, both the Area Manager and particularly the guy in the store were excellent in terms of understanding my complaint as a customer and dealing with it when required)

I may purchase this again in the future - if the feedback here should turn positive!

What are the next steps?

I tried to post this for 1 1/2 hrs at lunchtime, but the site was either too busy or there was something wrong with it.

QUOTE=talkingclock]sent three my 3rd letter today, lodged complaint with comreg and ASAI, give three 10 days for a full refund, will take it to the small claims if neccessary[/QUOTE]

You are a person after my own heart!
I've been very patient with 3 but now I want out. Can only occasionally send emails from gmail or yahoo and not at all from Outlook after last weekend. In order to write this, I'm sitting in my vehicle in Ennis picking up wireless broadband.

Talkingclock, WHO did you write to at 3 and to which address?
And as far as the small claims court is concerned, any idea how to go about it and how much it costs?
I've only dealt with the Citizens Information Centre before. The case went to arbitration and the company who owed me money paid up a year after I started the procedure (it took a long time to get a appointment for the arbitration).

I was kind of hoping that people would get together and do something together about 3 What about Today FM? Matt Cooper has taken up the case. Will they be willing and able to do something for the people in Ireland who are being taking for a ride by 3?

My sentiments too re speed, but then I would say that because I seem to be getting much better speeds than those reported here... and today I soared up to 2083kbps and as we speak I have 1909kbps.

My upload speeds remain stuck at just under 60kbps consistently...

To answer your question:
Small Claims cost €9 and is a really excellent service when it works. It's part of the District Court Structure. You need to fill in a form. Defendant can either accept the claim or contest it. It's not too hectic a process - it sure ain't Law & Order or anything like that. Cases are heard individually.

Call your local District Court's Small Claim Office and they can give you more info. Here's the link for the numbers.

Go to Citizen's Info site and read about it.

I'll stick with NCA for now.
