Three Mobile Broadband -THE PROBLEMS M-M-MEGATHREAD!

I am currently suffering with usb broadband from 3,while its cheap its far from cheerful,i live in dublin city centre and get a steady green light or sometimes a steady dark blue light which i think is slower although this changes quite often.
can anybody out there use torrents to download or upload files?
If i test my d/l speeds i get around 1meg+ depending on time of day,but if i can connect to a torrent instantly my speeds are reduced to dialup speeds, even my browsing speeds get much slower when a torrent client is even open on the same computer

also maybe unrelated but i find if i stop to read a page on a web site when i click the link to open the next page i get a ERROR PAGE CAN NOT BE DISPLAYED OR MAY BE UNAVAILABLE bla bla bla, then when i click refresh it opens every single time,do i really have to click every page once then refresh after it loses connection the first time?
also dont know if its true or not but i heard the 10gig download limit is not strictly a download limit and any data uploaded will also be taken out of the 10gig limit!
anyone else out there noticed similar bugs or dissappointed with the service for any reason?

1. You'll never get the full speed

2. Looks like torrents are blocked

3. The 10Gb is traffic allowance not download allowance

Cap is upload + download.

Torrenting is a little haphazard but that's hardly surprising given how variable your download/upload speeds are on mobile broadband - I torrent quite a bit of US tele and dl speeds will run anywhere between 4kB/s to 50kB/s with a well seeded hour long programme coming down in maybe 5 hours.

Speaking as someone who recently lost access to 'proper' broadband, and was briefly reliant on Clearwire, 3's Broadband is a dream!

3 is good for Surfing and is always on. Its also handy for Downloading the odd file but thats about it. I have it also and the ping is no good for gaming, have used it for WoW which ping does not matter all that much but i keep getting very bad lag spikes every 30s while playing.

3.6M is not your "package" like 3M ADSL is. It is total for everyone on the sector. i.e. like 11Mbps WiFi is not 11Mbps per person, but shared.

Also i would like to add it can be weather dependent. As in if its lashing outside your connection inside will be crap ( Well it is for me )

youre spot on there, mine dropped down to gprs yesterday, then died completely when the rain got heavier, not ideal for irish weather!
also i got my first bill today and it says payment will be taken on the 16th which is unfair as i am on day 8 of my 14 day trial which started on the 27th and this bill says i am being billed 19.99 for my first months usage and any remaining usage will be on the next bill
so il be nearly 2months into the contract before i know how much its gonna cost me for the first month, surely this is misleading??
im sure that 2months in if it proves to be excessively expensive the only option will be to buy my way out of the contract for xxxeuro!

I'm glad its weather dependant as our trial was in a down pour and it failed but even in the rain we can use it by the window so at least we know we have proper coverage.

24hrs from the time you plug the usb modem into your pc until you can start using the service. Mine worked straight away.

My speeds have never in the 3 weeks that i have it gone past 20KB/s. That, from watty said may have something to do with the fact that the shop that i bought it from have sold over two hundred alone and from what i can make out 3 only have one cell about 15mls from me on an esb power station. Not happy at all....but then you know what they say about beggers

when u say cell, does that mean a certain area?? if so around what size??

so if there's too many users within a cell the connection speed drops, yes??

You're not on the high speed network then! - I've been using 3 since January and started at about 250kbs and then upon theri upgrade moved to an average of 1mb - 1.5mb with a best ever at about 2.2mb.
If you're on the high speed network a bright blue light should be showing. - I've had no probelms whatsoever in the last 3 months and speed remains constant even though 3 neighbours are using it too. - Location is laneway in the bog of Kildare.

O2 will have theirs launched in the next day or so.

From my understanding the answer to question two would be yes.
As for question one, i don't know what the reach of a cell would be.
