Ok i'm gonna be building a new system over the next few weeks as my Gfx card fan has broke and I think its time for an upgrade. Also I'm in need of a server so my current box can be used for this.
I've been looking on overclockers and komplett and have come up with the following.

Point of View GeForce 7600GT 256MB, PCI-Express, DVI/Tv-Out, Retail
Asus P5W DH Deluxe,I975X,Socket-775,ATX, SATAIIx7, Dual-GbLAN, DDR2, 2xPCI-Ex16
Corsair TWIN2X 6400C4 DDR2, 2048MB CL4, Kit w/two 1GB Dimm's, E.P.P Technology
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan
Antec Performance One P180 Miditower, Silver Aluminum (Without PSU)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM
Seasonic S12 Powersupply 600W, 120mm Fan, 4xSATA, ATX/EPS, SLI, 20/24pin
Tuniq Tower 120

I am looking to see what advice you guys can give about these components.
Are they good or could I pick better ones for a similar price?
What kind of overclocking speeds should I be able to achieve?

*I'm fully aware that the 7600gt card would be a bottle neck in performance as far as this system goes but I am holding off for the D3D10 cards before I fork out for a good one.

Those Corsair EPP Dimms only auto overclock on NVIDIA nForce 5 motherboards.

Personally I would forgo the low latency DDR2-800 and get 2GB of DDR2-667 or DDR2-533 at a lower price as well, DDR2-800 isnt worth it at that price.

Dailytech has spilled the beans on GeForce 8 cards according to them hard launch in mid November so you may want to get something cheaper than the 7600GT but if you can recoup the cost go for it I suppose.

Other than the RAM nothing else to really comment on.

He's right, no difference between 533, 667 or 800 mhz at stock speeds. There's only a difference when you oc. Personally i'd go for cheap ram with lower latencies. Great talk bout Gskill hz & Team xtreme memories;

Thanks for the article pog. Great read. I am looking to overclock this system into the 3 - 3.5 Ghz range. What kind of memory would I need to get an advantage at this speed?
Also I see you have an E6600 @ 3.25 (360x9) but I thought the multiplier was locked on the E6600. Are there motherboards out there that will allow me to increse the multiplier.

Edit: nm for some reason I thought the E6600 had a 7x multiplier

The multiplier on the e6600 is 9x. Its the fsb you push up.

To hit 3.5gb (388x9) it would be best to have memory able to run at 400mhz (800mhz cos its dual channel) for a good overclock at 1:1 ie. your memoy would run at the same speed as your cpu. You could run on a 4:3 divider with slower memory, but for the best overclock 1:1 is recommended. Go for pc6400 which runs at 800mhz. I've got my memory running on a 5:4 divider ie. faster than cpu cos I'm only at 360fsb (to do this i clocked my memory to 451mhz ie. 902mhz dual channel). If you only get to 360fsb (which will prob be near your temps limit) you can run your memory faster on the 5:4 divider by adding more voltage & loosening timings.
Confused yet?

There are no mobo's that allow you to increase the multiplier (ie. its locked), some allow you to lower the multi.

my 2 cents: wait till new year to buy the DX10 card at least. Who knows what will happen Mid November with that G80 card!

Depends on a lot of things, ram wouldn't be a problem. I think your being a bit optimistic with air cooling, but you might be lucky & get a good chip that needs less voltage & has a perfectly flat ihs. Luck of the draw my friend

I'd up the chip to an 6700, add a 2nd hard drive and up the memory to 2gigs.

Its fine as long as you don't wanna overclock, the original op picked his parts to allow for a good overclock.
