£14.49 +£13.99 postage. £28.48 in total.
Or €42.50 – bargain!

It's very possible that this item like mine is actually a 2gb player not 4gb,..did you notice that this seller states " Postal insurance £12.99 Required"

He has 4GB plastered all over the place so I'd sincerely hope yours was just a mistake, as he'd get negative ratings all over the place if he was doing that all the time. When I won the auction I proceeded to pay via paypal without any changes to the price. I got a receipt so I have not paid any insurance.

I think most if not all the ebay HK/China 4gb players are only 2gb, believe me I did check them out first,..this other forum covers topic well (FORUM)
they are still worth it IMO,.. & just to be sure,..ask the seller for the tracking No should be RA*********HK

Bugger. Having waited 3 weeks for my mp3 player to arrive I emailed the guy. He replied saying I had not paid insurance ad he had send me an email on it (he definitely didn't) and that he is waiting for payment of €£12.99 before he sends it. I'm pissed as I just clicked buy it now and paid the amount it said which didn't mention any extra insurance! Do you think there is any point in agruing or shall I just pay?

I felt that might happen,..
you could try to get a refund & then use the seller I use here
, or maybe just pay the extra and be wiser next time,.you'll get one for about €40~€45with free shipping & no ins remember non of these HK sellers on ebay have have 4gb versions they are 2gb which have been hacked by the manufacture to indicate 4gb,most of the sellers don't even know this..if you format it the real memory is revealed,

His listing did state an ins fee so he has you there,...but it's worth asking
for a refund anyway,.... play the dope when asking,....no harm in trying.
If he digs his heals in I would just pay the extra and be done with it.
Dont forget they are actually 2gb not 4gb,.. I have bought 5x4gb & 1x1gb from the seller I mentioned & I think they are smashing little yoke's.

I'm just going to pay it, but whenI get it and check, if it's 2GB - I'm going to kick up a fuss - I've heard of others getting another one free. It's rediculout that they can get away with such false advertiting consistently..

if you enter the setup screen on these players they will indicate the correct memory as 4gb but thats the hack put in at manufacture,..the best way to see if it has 4gb is to load lots of mp3's beyond 3gb worth and check if they all play, well maybe the last gig worth or so, another way is to format it but that gets a bit messy,...use the FAT filing system , not FAT32 or NTFS.
Before formating backup on the player firmware so you can re-load it again.
or open it, and check the samsung memory chip, if it says K9K2G08U1A then it's a
samsung 256M x 8 Bit NAND Flash Memory (2GB).
see the samsung site here

Haven;t had muc of a chance to play with it but it looks pretty cool so far.

Sanyo HDP-MM3000 6GB HDD Mp3 Player Hard Disk Drive

You can get them for 40 to 50 euros off ebay.ie (depending on the bidding).. the distributor is from Ireland..

I read a review of them which said they were decent enough (and that was based on a RRP of 99 Sterling)..

not the same spec at all,..the HK-pod's have mp3,mp4 movies/video,fm radio, photo viewer, text reader, voice rec, and it records from radio as mp3 .
I've bought a few from a HK seller on ebay,...but please NOTE they are not 4GB as stated by all HK/china ebay sellers but 2gb,..see here for more info on this topic, still well worth it IMO
