Absolute frustration... ..

<rant> Last night, I popped onto the BW server and eventually, round came Scarabae. I jumped in my heavy, ran off to the enemy base, and after battling my way through mutliple nasty people, lots of annoying turrets and mines, I got the flag. I also had virtually no health left, but, I was in a heavy, and I had the flag

I dropped off the enemy base, *crunch* and ended up standing there with the flag, in a heavy underneath the enemy base.

Team> I have the enemy flag, am under nme base, need APC pickup.

This message was repeated in varying modes for a full 10 minutes and nothing turned up.

Eventually, the enemy found out where I was, and I had to battle 5 of the gits, in a heavy with the flag. I killed every last one of them (watching them slide down the hill into a mortar is a defininte plus in my book)...

And then a light (on my side) turns up. "Drop the Flag, Let me Cap it For You" he cries, dancing around me like some sort of buzzing insect. Unfortunately, TD was off so I could but just sit there.

There was no way I was giving him the flag. Dammit, for 10 minutes I'd asked for an APC pickup (and during that time, LOADS of APC's had arrived, but ignored me).. So..

I WALKED BACK

I killed more enemies, their scouts and so on. The light didn't even stick around as my escort...

I have NEVER been inflicted with so much mupptery in my whole life.

I had to get this off my chest. </rant>

Sounds Familiar

Been there, done that only I got creamed in the HEAVY trying to make it back to base.

There should be a designated driver/pilot on any team, even on an all-comers-welcome server game type like barrysworld.

At the very least an escort / muppet with repair pack could have intervened

Actually, I did. To start with, I was like the UN - ultra polite, but with a discreet heavy weapons presence. I said 'PLEASE' more times last night in that one game than I think I've EVER said it in Real-Life..

Hehe, next time - phone me, I'll get out of bed, boot up, log-on, join the server, change teams, get light armour, call up an APC, and fly out to pick you up. Deal?

Teeth.

am I right in saying you had little or no life dropped off the base moaned a bit killed 5 or so lads coming to get you and then refused to give the flag in a light in your own team for 10 odd minutes then you walked back in a heavy untouched....and capped it.....

Thats about the sum of it, yes.

And I didn't 'moan' at all - I simply requested, pleasantly, that some little oik in a light (of which there were a veritable plethora) cam an picked me up in an APC.

Then, having killed more enemy oiks, and destroyed somewhere in the region of 4-5 vehicles (inc the one where the guy had just got back into it after jumping out) - I decided to walk back.

There was another time - talk about frustrating - when I capped the flag in HEAVY, but had no one to take it back to base on Scarabrae - so I hoofed it back.

The annoying thing was that I managed to get outside our own base, onto the second level platform, was just waiting for energy levels to come up for the final jump when the friggin time limit ran out
