Gaelscoil-->English Secondary

    Hello all,

    We are on the verge of sending our child (who has been educated in an amazing Gaelscoil thus far) to an English speaking secondary school. It's a really tough decision for us (and for him) as he has a high standard of Irish and loves the language. The English speaking school just has too much extra to offer us in terms of facilities, proximity, and variety of extra-curricular activities.

    We feel emotional at the prospect of him losing his Irish, and are looking for ideas to keep it going to as high a standard as we possibly can. We ourselves are not fluent.

    All ideas welcome, although they have to fit into the average day of a busy teenager…and he is busy!

    Also, it would be great to hear from anyone that took this educational route and kept their Irish at a high level.

    Go raibh maith agaibh!
