Hey lads, does anyone know a good book or website that has the facts and principles of buddhism in it but is not too well "opinionated" for lack of a better word. I looked up the wikipedia article on it and it was very helpful but I'd like a bit more info.

Not really, I'm just trying to build up as much info as I can on buddhism. I thinking of becoming a Buddhist but I don't want to jump into. I was made a Catholic at birth and Spock knows that didn't turn out well. I feel I need some sort of, for lack of a better word yet again, moral system in my life and buddhism is the best I have seen and probably the one that suits my nature best. Except for not "losing mindfulness" that could be a problem as I am quite fond of that. But as that website I was looking at said, Buddha said put his teachings into practice and see what works for you. So I guess that's what I'll do.

In that case, you might want to try reading the Dalai Lama's books, I love those and I mostly started on those.
The only "morals" I would have thought of in Buddhism are the 5 precepts and the fact of karma, and even then I'm not sure that would be a fitting term.

Asiaprod's threads on some important aspects of Buddhism are useful too.

yeah I just said moral system because I didn't want to say religion. Let's say I'm looking a helpful reference and guide to life.

A book that I've found very useful is Buddhism for Dummies - it covers everything, also a good site is

When it comes to a moral guide, Sean7, I find this little book very helpful. But of course it really depends on what you looking for.

A small and handy (and cheap) book with explanations of "the core of Buddhas teachings with his own words as memorized by his disciples." This book is a pearl! (In the amazon-link you can search inside to see if it is of intest for you).
