Fossil eagle found in Australia

    It is very complete, and was found among the remains of other, smaller birds. The scientists still don´t know if it is a Wedge-Tailed Eagle (the largest eagle in Australia today), or a prehistoric, previously unknown species.

    And here's a wedge-tailed eagle (Aquila audax). Interestingly, since there are no vultures in Australia, this eagle has taken on both the niche of the top aerial predator AND the flying scavenger and is often seen feeding on roadkill.

    And according to Top Gear it feeds on road kill and then flies into windscreens covering the driver in guts and maggots.:(
