I'm atheist or agnostic and female, with one or more kids
The poll in this thread don't show those stats at the mo
    Mums = 9 versus 18 (9/(9+18) = 33% overall) versus non-mums = 15 versus 90 (15/(15+90) = 15%). 33 ~= 15*2. 18 = 9*2; 90 = 6*15.

Hence, amongst females who voted, mums did so roughly twice as often as non-mums. Dads did twice as often as mums, and non-dads six times as often as non-mums who were, no doubt, out socializing and not glued to PSN :)

As above, small sample, self-selecting, etc etc.

I appreciate the efforts to explain..I've had a very long day and my brain still cannot compute how 9 mums to 15 non-mums = mums voting twice as often as non-mums. Sorry. :o

Think it's comparing percentages of mums/parents to non-mums/non parents.

Can I ask a few questions which I hope aren't nosey or arrogant to those A&A parents out there?

What are the OHs religious views?
What was the reason for bringing the kiddo(s) into the world?

Okay - ratios in comparison with male posters who are parents/non-parents rather than actual numbers voting makes sense this am...thanks for that! :o

He would consider himself more buddhist than any other religion and not particularly buddhist at that.

We didn't have a "reason" - unless you count throwing caution to the wind on your wedding night because your GP assured you it took months/possibly years to conceive after being on Depo, as a form of family planning.

No.2 is testament to the myth that breastfeeding is a reliable contraceptive.

    :D

the myth that breastfeeding is a reliable contraceptive.
Can't find the paper at the moment, but I gather it is reliable (for obvious evolutionary reasons) if the baby is brestfeeding at very regular intervals -- a few sucks here, a few there, all the time, and not the more common western way of doing it, of every four to six hours.

Heard the story first from the excellent Robert Sapolsky and I'm sure he covers it in one of the following lectures, quite possibly the one on Endocrinology:

Well, I was feeding a premie often enough that I hadn't had a period since before I went on the Depo about 4 years previously (sorry, tmi!) - and despite that fact I still managed to get pregnant...apparently impossible scenarios - twice no less! I'm sitting looking at them - a word of caution for anyone who believes those myths/claims apply to all! :p

My OH would consider herself catholic but in the worst "lapsed" way - drives me mad but religion is one thing we avoid talking about as "I'll just go off on one" apparently every time...

The reason I wanted a kid was firstly to further the family name tbh.
There's a big history of my family traced back to the 1400s and I love that kinda stuff. Gives me a sense of purpose and place in the world.
After we had one though, that reason changed to "why the hell didn't we do this earlier, this is the most awesome experience ever!"
...'course it helps that I see him as the ultimate Pokemon as well though ;)

Same as mine. He thought he was Agnostic, but I killed that notion.

    Lust minus caution equals baby.

Therefore Caution + baby = Lust....

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

With a baby in the house, caution is an intrinsic component of lust that's for sure! :D
