New Android Game - Pixlide World Tour

Thanks to Davy for giving me permission to post this.

I've been working on a game with a friend since early last year, and it finally went live on Google Play last night.

Pixlide World Tour (and Pixlide Lite) are sliding puzzle games. In Pixlide World Tour, there are 90 levels split across 10 themed galleries, scoreloop integration, and achievements. In Pixlide Lite, there are 5 images for you to try out that are not in the full game.

There are two game play modes:

Arcade (the full experience with power-ups, bombs and doors), and Pure (just the puzzles without any distractions). Both modes have normal and hard difficulty levels (the hard version of a level is unlocked when you complete the normal version).

The game uses a star progression system (3 stars for quickest times), and you unlock new galleries by reaching star quotas.

Give the Lite version a spin and let us know what you think!

Bought the full version. I like it, the three star ones are a real challenge, just managed 3 stars on the first one so far!

Thanks Damo!

I did a trailer for the game this morning. Yes, the irony of using iMovie to put it together was not lost on me.

Tried out the lite version. Quite enjoyable puzzler. As general feedback, the resolution seems a little low on my sgs2. All the menu's etc look quite soft

Bought the pro version and finished the first level.
It's quite frustrating that I can't move onto the next level until I get higher scores.
Getting gold should be to encourage replay after completion not artificially extend the length of play.

If I play it enough to be good enough to get gold I would enjoy replaying the earlier levels but being stuck with the same six rounds til I get good is just going to make me uninstall tbh.

Look at turn other casual game out there for structure. Full gold unlocks extra difficult levels later on, as an example

Thanks subway. It's hard to strike a balance between progression and challenge. I can breeze through most levels with 3 stars. In fact, I wanted the lightning slider achievements for a little bit of extra challenge (finish 5 levels under 1m45s on arcade or 1m30s on pure).

Some games let you see everything by achieving the minimum one star (angry birds) while others make you do a bit more work, like 50 stars from 25 levels to unlock the next box on Cut The Rope. We paced it at about 2 stars per level to unlock the next gallery (and don't forget the reflection hard levels count towards your star total). The requirements get a bit steeper towards the end of the game as you (hopefully!) get better at the game.

I'm out of the country at the moment, but it's definitely something to discuss for the next update when I get back. Thanks for taking the time to give feedback !

thanks for getting back, i think you have to take the context of the 2 games into account.
cut the rope, the levels are one hit, and the objectives clear. if you miss a star, you start again and retry in a matter of seconds.
with pixlide, you play for 6-10 minutes, get 1 star, no indication of what to do to get up to 2 stars (i presume its all time based?), play the same level again, maybe get a few seconds off or, make a few mistakes, and do worse. then repeat...

Thought the lite version was a bit long for a trial version TBH.

I'd leave it at 3 for the trial.

I think a long press on the items in the left should give explanations on what they do in arcade mode.

Other than that, a fun enough game but I get bored of these sliding puzzle games fairly easily.

I found the items kind of useless in arcade mode and thought they just got in the way but I liked the bomb idea. However I quickly worked out that bombs seem to stop coming if I get all the items so I just brought in every puzzle piece and and collected all items to stop bombs coming. Probably stops you getting full stars though but in the lite version I don't really care

I think the top line which isn't part of the puzzle solution should have a tint on it to differentiate it from the main puzzle area.

Subway - definitely food for thought on the progression, cheers. BTW, hit the pause button for time targets. They vary on both modes and both difficulties.

Bman - we had a full gallery for the lite originally, and cut it back to 5 when we thought 9 was too much.

The power ups really come into play if you're going for 3 stars, and are useful in hard mode too.

Not a bad idea about the long press tool tips, cheers.

There are 2 random bombs per level. Once 2 bombs are out, that's it. We have lots of ideas for new power ups and new bomb types. Hopefully we can implement in a future release.

Keep the suggestions coming!

Just a quick update on this. We've spent the last few weeks reworking the graphics for HDPI devices (translation - not blurry on newer phones any more!), and the updated versions just hit Google Play.

All in-game images have been resampled, icons have been recreated, the title screen and tutorial have been redone, and everything should be nice and sharp now.

Both versions were updated - Pixlide Lite (free) and Pixlide World Tour (€0.79). Check it out and let me know what you think.

The next update should be gameplay tweaking and hopefully a new gallery for the full version.

Another small update to add support for Jellybean.
Both versions were updated, and are live in Google Play now.
