If like myself you have been follow the case of the two Gardai in court had it occurred to other if we as reserves find ourselves in a similar position we could be facing arrest and court and also the cost of defending the case in court. Could any of us afford the 14k that is now owed by these cork gardai

Another issue I would like to raise is injury on duty. Should this happen to any of us are we covered in the same way a regular member is?????

All the more reason for having someone like the GRA who look after there full time members, its time the GR's had the same opportunity for the likes of this, its only a matter of time before something does go sideways for a Gr and they will be left standing on their own.

Should a GR be injured on duty, all medical expenses etc will be reimbursed by AGS. Claims should be lodged with the financial controller in your district. As for loss of earnings or compensation to cover future medical bills as a result of injuries sustained, you must take an action against the Minister under the Garda Compensation act. You have 3months from the date of injury in which to lodge your claim.

This will proceed via the High Court. This is the same for all members of AGS, AGS cannot give compensation to an injured member of their own accord from the Public Purse. The courts must first accept that the minister is liable and then they will provide a financial compensatory sum to the injured party.

Thanks for that. have had a few bruises and cut but nothing serious enough to put me out of action . Hope it continues that way
