windows: tilt & turn vs casement + sliding doors

I'm looking for advice on tilt and turn vs casement windows. There was an earlier thread on this that I do not quite follow. I'm wondering whether from any given manufacturer, for a given U value, a tilt and turn window will look different from inside or outside the house from a casement version: i.e. will the tilt and turn appear to have a thicker frame than the casement window, either from inside or outside?

Are there any other pros and cons to tilt and turn vs casement windows?

Also wonder about the mechanisms for sliding doors -- is there any particular mechanism that will make a sliding door easier or harder to slide, for a given spec (double or triple glazed)? does anyone have information or views about the ease of sliding a "life and slide" type door? any recommendations for choice of sliding door for an older person?

    thanks in advance!
