Aye, Judge was the man, or the dog.

He taught me all I know... crossing the road, for instance...

    Crow was mine! :)

Aye, Mr Crow for me. It's almost always the one who might be able to understand sarcasm.

As for crossing the road, I'm afraid I learned very little from Judge. I rarely look for a safe place, I tend to hurry rather than stop and wait, don't look all around, screw letting the traffic pass me, can't even remember the next bit and (unless it's the bit about crossing, I do that) obviously don't keep watching while those murderous fools in cars try to hit me. I had the Judge badge that was compulsory issue for kids in the early 80s though.

So what I really want to know if that when the wagon visited Earth, why did they always choose to trundle around Irish roads in preference to anywhere else. I suppose that's a query for a different thread though.

Christ I'm getting old. I remember getting my Judge badge from my teacher in class 1977 when I was 7 after he asked me the mandatory questions required to earn one.

Bear in mind that this was the same psychotic teacher who literally used to flog 7 year olds for getting sums wrong. Ahhhh, the 70's. God, I'd like to meet him now.

I've been driving around Dublin a lot lately and have noticed just how kamikazi Dublin pedestrians seem to be getting. Time for another TV-related brainwashing exercise on the kids I think.

Gotta agree with gonker here. Judge was definitely the best.
Apparently he makes guest appearances at the Lambert Puppet Theatre in Dun Laoghaire regularly.

There's no mention of the Squirrels in the poll! Where's the Squirrels?! They scared the bejayzuss out of me!

Which character was it who went off to the Moon to stop the mice eating it? He was there for the first few shows then he pissed off to the Moon. Who was that?

"Oh no, Judge! I've eaten too many sweets!" - O'Brien

"Caw Caw, Caw Caw, What's the time? I don't know! Do you?" - Mr. Crow

    I think that was Rory.

It was only last year that I finally understodd wtf step 5 of the Safe Cross Code was.

"The walking straight across you." ????

I'm sure it almost cost me my life on several occasions as I struggled with the hidden meaning of that contorted syntax mid-crossing.

I needed my sister to point out that the full-stop was a comma before it finally sank in and I was at last able to cross the road in relative comfort.

Has to be Judge. They were still giving out these badges in 1984 when I got one! Teacher - a kinder one - used to play the tape with the song as well. That Safe Cross Code song featured on Bosco a few times long after Wanderly Wagon ended, still with Judge, too.

Crow for definate. He was the coolest.
Hard to belive that was the most popular Kids TV show in the country for so long and to think of all the Abuse Travellers get these days... :D

Oh my god oh my god oh my god! Gleee!!!! A whole Wanderly Wagon board!

My favourite was Judge the dog, saviour of countless thousands of Irish school children when they cross the road, I still hear the song when I cross! :o

My claim to fame is (as posted on the TV board) I got to meet Judge every time Lamberts came to Waterford in the 80s. Man, he's just so cool.

Hi DW. Sounds like my old teacher! He battered a classmate for humming in maths class. I would have liked to meet him but he's dead now.

(the teacher, mind, not the classmate)

    Anyways, my fave was Foxy.

There was a Foxy, wasn't there?

this was the best, the greatest, Rory was so cool, he was like in charge of it all the father figure of kids tea time telly. Mr. Crow was great, loved judge he is so cute and cuddly. When my son was a kid brought him to the Lambert Puppet Theatre near dunlaoghaire. Mr. Crow was there and he really liked his character and thinks he is the best. Judge appears. they had model minutures of the wagon in the Lambert Museum.

    Judge.

Didn't he fly a plane occasionally 'cos these two lines are stuck in my head for the last 40 years...

    "I am the flying Dog

With lots of flying hours in my log !"
