Need to catch up with a lot of what's in this thread.

No mention yet of Headhunter I don't think, some great tracks on his album 'Nomad' from 2008.

    Headhunter - Prototype

    Headhunter - Technopolis

Don't know if you'd include Lukid in this genre but close enough I suppose, quality album from 2009 called 'Foma'. I love this album for driving actually...

@ SteveDon Out on Monday on digital

This all started as the 'Bristol Sound'.
Pinch being the daddy followed by Headhunter, SkullDisco and Peverelist with Martyn and 2562's first (dubstep efforts) coming out on Bristol labels as well.
This is when Berlin (Hardwax/Berghain/T++/Shed etc..) started to pay attention, particularly Shackelton's 'Blood on my hands'

This documentary sums up the roots nicely.
    Blackdown Appleblim interview, Shackleton interview
    Pinch pitchfork feature

Key tunes: Pinch - Qawwali, Airlock

    Peverelist - The Grind

    Headhunter - Futurebound

Skull Disco - Vansan, Blood on my hands

    2562 - Channel two, Kameleon

TRG - Broken Heart (Martyn mix)

Scuba took hotflush and his other labels more and more down this direction when he moved away from breakstep.
His first album is well worth picking up.

Hessle Audio get a big mention for pushing this both on their label and their old radio show on SubFM (now on Rinse)
    Try this mix.

Not anymore and in the past it was only ever hobby/parties etc, I only buy vinyl the odd time these days, buy lots of CDs though and have been tempted for a while now to add some sort of digital solution to my existing setup and get back into it. Funny actually, in the 16 odd years that I've had decks, I never once sent a demo mix anywhere!

Thats quality - I'm becoming more and more convinced of my need to delve deeper into this stuff.

Yeah, the flip on it is a sweet tune as well.

Picked these two up during the week as well ( not entirely sure as to their relevance as i tend to ignore genre issues and call music "good" or "bad"), the new Velour on Night Slugs is a cracking release.

    And the new Seiji.

And regarding the Boddika thing, that's one of the lads from Instra:mental (i think), also believe i saw Micky say somewhere that there will be more from him out on [nakedlunch]. Good news i reckon.

Yeah I'm gonna agree with that 100%.
The world needs more dj's with massively varied tastes like Scubadevils who also have that committed patron approach to music.

Haha cheers - it wasn't a 'no mix policy' as such, more that I was always a fussy bastrd and the slightest imperfection in a mix rendered it unsuitable for listening by anyone but me! There were many times at parties where I was asked to send on a demo but never did. Who knows, maybe I would have been a rich DJ by now

I was walking though town earlier and listening again to the new Shed album, its bloody brilliant. Some standout moments during my walk :pac:

Shed - Keep Time (this needs to be loud and could do with being about 2 mins longer)

    Shed - My R-Class

That is excellent alright - and brings me back to the Burial thread also in that it's not a blanket dislike for vocals but specifically the vocals on Untrue that I just can't get (yet!).

I was listening to the more recent Scuba album this morning going to work and 'So You Think You're Special' in all its vocal glory continues to blow me away... stunning track.

haha been in my basket since it went up too!!
Huisman's just absolutely killing it right now. Much prefer his Made Up Sound stuff than his 2562 stuff, but both are incredible.
Who'd have thunk the influence of Uk Garage could revitalise techno and house so much?

I have to say i was never mad into either techno or house, but with the influence of uk garage, grime and dubstep the hybrid sounds being produced at the minute are very exciting
