He must be impressed with all those big farms over in the Britain. Weather people think about it or not TV costs money to produce. Countryfile prob has 5 times the budget of ETTG, you can imagine that the quality of the show will be largely different. In fairness to ETTG they do a good job on the money that they get from RTÉ, ETTG is an independent production.

Weather the man on the street likes it or not you cannot just turn around and say "BBC is far better then RTÉ", if that is the case I would personally like to the see the UK government remove the licence fee and just give the BBC €350million in exchequer funding. You would see a very different BBC at work.

You've obviously not paid much attention to Countryfile to say that.

    Public service broadcaster.
Out of RTE, BBC, C4 which makes the Irish public happier?

Again mikom the BBC have a much bigger budget than RTÉ, and C4 don't have the same commitments that RTÉ or the BBC have. C4 are coming from a much large population and lets face it S4C get £100million from the UK government.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others don't. Your trying really hard to suggest something that really isn't a valid point. No matter what you think and no matter how hard we try, you cannot compare Ireland to England, England has a far greater population.

Not surprised at all. RTE is a waste of space. Years behind UK. Shows are crap and our documentaries are so cringeworthy...

    Seriously people.

    Which documentaries?

They don't have the money to be years ahead of the UK, we have a smaller population.

So what after hours is your point of reference????

I note how they all are comparing RTÉ to the BBC. Interesting that the BBC has 4billion in licence fee and commercial revenues, sure they could save a bank with that.

It is far easier to complain about RTÉ than to really look at it properly. Both threads are as pathetic as RTÉ 1's NYE celebrations, but not quite as bad as Sky 1's.

Nice get out of jail card played there.
What about the very thread you are posting on.

I just remembered a documentary my parents liked over the Christmas........... "The Edwardian farm".
Guess what channel it was on.
