anyone find this site a bit strange before their christmas sale for example the U2 singles cd was €9.99 then the sale started and it stayed the same price but now that the sale has ended its gone up to €11.99. It has kinda turned me off using the site.

cdwow is a joke when it comes to prices. If I open the page on my laptop I might get a price of €11.99 on a certain cd/dvd. If I open the same thing on my cousins pc (not a user of cdwow) he gets a price of €9.99. Cdwow puts cookies on your pc that raises the price on certain conditions. Its probably placed when you buy something. I've noticed a few times that clearing all stored internet information and a quick refresh brings the price of some items down. Its not always the case but it does happen with some items

I've never noticed or heard anyone come across that. Have heard of differences between us/uk/irl version of the site. weird.

prices on cdwow fluctuate all the time. in fact, you can find the same item on different parts of the web site for massively different prices.

Here are a few sites you can use to keep on eye on price changes on cdwow for dvd's and games at least, (copy and pasted from another forum)

    http://ulysses.vivereonline.com/watchdog
    http://scan.dvdshark.com/results.htm (for DVD changes)
    http://scan.dvdshark.com/game.htm (for Videogame/Software changes)

And best of all, their customer services has been out-sourced to India. I had an interesting discussion with a lady yesterday as to why I ordered a Led Zepellin boxset for the brother on the 4th of December and it still hadn't arrived yesterday !!

No wonder their prices are so low, by outsourcing to india.

their support over email is pretty good though, i was waiting for a dvd to be dispatched and sent an email to them got a reply the same day saying it would be dispatched on the 18th, it was and it arrived two days ago.

Yeah, I've only had 1 problem with them in all my orders and they sent out a replacement very quickly for me.

Outsourcing to India for phone-support is becoming very common. Usually OK anyway but results vary.

CDwow.ie still in my good books [crosses fingers]! :)
